The Base is God
The BASE is God: Leette Eaton- White
In the last few weeks the conservative base has come under fire and many have called for the religious right to be silenced. The problem with that is if you chip away at the base you have nothing on which to build. If we really want to rebuild the party we need to focus on the base, listen to the base, and frankly, at large just do what the base says. Now this may sound like catering but by engaging ourselves with the most basic qualities of our party, conservative values, we uplift each other. By doing this the American people are also more engaged with our desires for this nation. The religious right believes in morality in society with limited government. And it is that basic idea on which the Republican Party was built. As conservatives we uplift those who have been downtrodden, we defend the innocent, punish the guilty, rejoice in prosperity and speak out on everything. These are the very same things God calls for. That is what the core of religious right is about. If we ignore the religious right, if we separate ourselves from that, we become more like the liberals that are quickly destroying this country with entitlement programs, not only the absence of God in the public square but the vilifying of all things Judeo-Christian in public and in the law books. We can’t do well if we do what the left does by ignoring our core values.
If we seek to rebuild the party you have to start with the base, not do away with it. And the base is God.
