I believe the only possible explanation for your “leftist” remark is if either (a) you believe that all government regulation of business is “leftist,” or (b) you believe that only regulation beyond an indefinite trigger point is “leftist,” and that YOU get to set the trigger point.

Explanation “b” reminds me of the arrogance of the cave explorer who says that anyone who explores deeper into a cave is a fool, and anyone who doesn’t explore as deeply as he does is a coward. Arrogance comes from presuming that he can set the boundaries that others should follow.

Please advise.

Zero regulation, of course, would eliminate the FTC, FDA, SEC, FAA, FCC, NHTSA, NRC and every other federal agency concerned with consumer protection, in favor of a 100% laissez-faire economy.

The core value of Leninsm is replacing private enterprise with collectivism. Obama advocates a mixed economy, as does every rational person, rather than the fatal extremes of collectivism or unregulated capitalism. We only differ as to the appropriate point on the mixed economy spectrum.
