Old Media: Now Featuring Palin-Smears From Actions of In-Laws Not Yet Even In-Laws
-By Warner Todd Huston
The national news has found its newest way to slam Governor Sarah Palin and that is to report heavily on any untoward actions made by her relatives by marriage — or even soon to be marriage, for that matter. Next the Old Media will be strenuously looking for Palin neighbors that are unruly, Palin hairdressers that have parking tickets, Palin dog groomers that steal pens from work, and Palin fans that talk too loudly on cell phones while in a theater.
Now, it is beyond me why a person who is not yet even an official in-law by marriage of a public official is a major news story for a low-level drug bust. I can see where it might interest local media for a brief minute, but for this story to have spread all across the wires and the Old Media with nearly 1,000 stories on the national scene… well, it is rather silly, really. Evidence of the worst in tabloid maneuvers.
It’s silly, of course, until one realizes that it is just another lame attempt by the Old Media to slime Governor Palin, even if it does have to be guilt by association. And it isn’t even association by color of official government business, either. It is family business. In its zeal to slam Sarah Palin, Reuters even initially misreported the story to be Palin’s daughter getting arrested for drugs instead of the soon to be Mother-in-Law. (my bold)
Mother of Bristol Palin’s fiance arrested
Reuters
Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter, Bristol, has been arrested on drug charges, authorities said on Friday. Sherry Johnston, 42, was taken into custody at her …
Oopsie.
But, seriously. Why is this a major news item?
Even more to the point of an organized Palin smear campaign is the constant choice of photos that accompany these stories. Invariably, the photos that accompany the story are not of Sherry L. Johnston, mother of Bristol’s boyfriend, but of Bristol and boyfriend Levi or of Governor Palin herself.
A Google news search of the topic shows the actual perpetrator pictured but a few times while photos of Palin and Bristol and Levi are rampant. So, as is easily seen, this is just another exercise in Palin bashing. This news is of dubious import and the constant focus on Sarah, Bristol and Levi are wildly over drawn.
Now, let’s deal with the moonbat’s and their take on this story…
The hatemongers on the left are using this story to compare Governor Palin’s Obama jab that he “pals around with terrorists” to her being forced into a familial relationship with this woman arrested for a drug offense. The idiotti on the far left are saying that this means she is “palling around with drug dealers.”
So, let’s point out the logical flaw with these dolt’s logic, shall we?
First of all no one chooses their in-laws. We all have extended family that we would rather not be associated with. But in-laws are a package deal with the loved one we do choose. And, since neither Governor Palin herself, nor her soon to be son-in-law or daughter have any known involvement in this crime, there is no legitimate reason to say that Palin “pals around with drug dealers.” There is no active choice, here, no close association by either affinity or ideology.
Secondly, is the moonbat left saying that Governor Palin should forcefully forbid her daughter from marrying the man she wishes to marry because his mom is a bit unsavory? Isn’t that the sort of authoritarian, overly strict method of parenting that the moonbats are against? Aren’t they the ones so enamored of the obscene Dr. Spock way of letting children do whatever they wish to do without a cross word being spoken? Let’s be honest that the alternative to having Sherry Johnston as a mother-in-law is certainly to forbid Bristol from marrying Levi. Would the left not howl at the moon like the slobbering cretins they are if it were discovered that Sarah Palin had forbidden her daughter to marry the man she loves?
Further, does no one on the left have a relative by marriage that they would not chose to be associated with? Or is it that these moonbats are the ones that others would rather not be associated with?
The reality is, Governor Palin did not choose Sherry Johnston as a mother-in-law to her daughter. No one really chooses their in-laws in this society. On the other hand, Barack Obama did choose to be friends with and to work closely with a veritable cornucopia of American haters, terrorists, racists and extremists.
So, the facts and the logic of the matter dictates that to say that Palin “pals around with drug dealers” is a stupid claim to make. However, to say that Obama “pals around with terrorists” is true as can be. But, once again, facts, logic and truth do not matter to leftists and Democrats.
As always, the moonbats fly high, but their intelligence remains subterranean.

Gawd! Will you forget about Sarah Palin already? The rest of the country has. She was woman who rode into stardom on a man’s coattails. Whoop-dee-doo. Plucked from obscurity for a brief, not very shining moment
Now she’s back to the sleepy life of Alaska where she belongs. Leave her there. I’m going to move along now and read about more important topics.

Tony Ananda, I don’t know about Sarah Palin just going back to ….. what do you think of her worth again? A sleepy life?
No! She is not going back to anything of the sort. She has an amazing attitude. She is not being left alone because she has a winning attitude. She’s a SOMEBODY!!!!
I am in another country and we are certainly not forgetting about her. America must be pretty screwed up to forget a woman like her so easily.

Tony, you’ve obviously never been out of a city. There’s nothing “sleepy” about life in Alaska.
December 22nd, 2008 at 9:19 am
Get a grip, you two. She’s not even a has-been. She’s an ain’t-never-was.
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:07 am
Tony Ananda, I pulled her down during the elections but I have to give credit where credit is due.
You however, seem to have a personal issue with her. I am concerned for your sanity as this women is a celebrity now. Seems she has been for some time.
………..
I’ll just get my psychology book out. In the meantime get cumfy. Tell Auntie Julie how this began? (BTW, I cost $120 an hour non refundable. Might negotiate down to $5 if you know about Psychology.)
OK, just mucking around with you. lol

Exactly Daveinga, your family history is extremely exciting. No sleepy life for you! It is a shame you don’t have a website. You would be very interesting to keep up with.

Saying it’s personal is the first refuge of the ignorant and superficial. It is an attempt to deny the facts. Such as: no one outside of Alaska would have heard of her (nor paid any attention to her if they had) if it weren’t for the man in her life, John McCain.

Tony Ananda,
Go figure about labels. Superficial is not one I hear much.
……
Ok, so to your point.
****Such as: no one outside of Alaska would have heard of her (nor paid any attention to her if they had) if it weren’t for the man in her life, John McCain.****
Hmmm, lots of people knew of Sarah Palin outside of Alaska. She brought bigger politics into Alaska through the oil drilling. She brought in bigger players.
That’s how her reputation grew enough for her to be a candidate for vice presidency. I would be interested to hear of official information saying that McCain actually chose his running mate himself. I don’t think it works that way.
I think it rather works as a party. She had the right goods and she had proven herself and …. well, the rest is history. Oops, in this case it really is “her” story.
Big oil brought Sarah Palin into position. She worked hard for that and will not stop. IMO.

Tony, can you help me out here.
Is it Sarah Palin that is the problem or all women. I am on your side but I think I can see easily that I am doing something wrong just by the lower amounts of men commenting.
I seriously am playing with you. I am looking for an opening to get along. I am not well liked for my directness in this movement. lol

hey, i like where she (palin) comes from, not Alaska, haven’t been there, yet.
conservative women have long since needed an alternative to the shrill mememe politics and perpetual victimization of feminists always out for more, more & more, of everything. their demands are insatiable and giving special rights and privilege to one group only destroys balance.
imho -that is what traditional marriage has always been about, balance. each had a role to play and when done in a proper and respectful way, led to harmony and the kind of family life i’m afraid is all but gone now.
she had to happen. it was inevitable.
and the feminist’s response to her was just as predictable. i personally hope she picks up the conservative/pro-family/pro-marriage mantle that society has discarded and runs w/ it. i don’t see this bunch of lawyer crap we have in office now fixing anything any time soon.
ironic how Miss Wasilla (1984) & Miss Congeniality (Alaska), w/ a degree in communications-journalism is so hated by the media. i’ve heard it said before that they eat their own. gobble gobble. oops, that reminds me.
Merry Christmas to all …
you too julie.

Thanx daveinga, Merry Xmas to you.
I agree with what have said in your prior comment. I don’t know where you are in the world but America has some wonderful things going on from the ground up.
I think you have to have things happening from the ground and the politicians at the same time. I am still unsure whether Obama will provide more good or more bad for America. I don’t think in such a large country you can make perfection. But…
Sarah Palin found a way to be remarkable. She is still married to her high school sweetheart and has 5 children AND was able to stand for vice president and all the other things she did.
To me she is worthy to be one of the great feminists. Or at least she should be. You are so right that it is all about balance. I hope also she stays in the spotlight.
Sometimes I put great effort into challenging feminists. There is a terrible backlash where I am. We have the most single parents per capita in the world. Even the Japanese Government did a documentary on us to try and figure a way to make social changes without such a terrible cost to their society. (I loved it when I saw at the end of the documentary, “Thanx to our group”. No one else was thanked but it was a terrific documentary. They considered us the bee’s knees just for the fact we were able to give them both men’s and women’s side. They did a series of 7 documentaries on 7 different countries with major social backlash. Norway was documented for the most suicides per capita.
Anyhow, the one thing that stuck in my mind from a women moving up the ranks through her hard work is this: “We have only had 20 years of trying to solve domestic violence. Men had thousands of years to do things their way so far. We want the same chance”.
I don’t think men have had any time to do things their way. I don’t believe the majority of men had any chance to be anything more than a survivor of their environment.
And I 100% think that tradition should be respected. And that is all groups tradition. Having all minority groups chasing white people’s success form their tradition isn’t even real. White people are more socialised and a experiment now a days than minority groups. We are more damaged than the groups we try and force to be like us.
Very sad times. But I believe revolution is coming from both men and women.
