Ann Coulter's Wrong on Illegitimacy Rates

My latest piece “Coulter’s Wrong on Illegitimacy Rates”, is on WorldNetDaily.  You can read it here.

In her column this week, “Goodbye, America! It was fun while it lasted“, Ann made a major factual error suggesting that welfare reform resulted in greatly reduced illegitimacy — our social problems resolved.

This rumor has been running in conservative circles for years.  It is a dangerously self-defeating old-wives tale preventing them from realizing what they missed in welfare reform — the marriage-positive aspects.

This is one reason why Republicans keep losing elections: they have no positions on social issues.

David respectfully I disagree as republicans who are so utterly naive do indeed have positions on social issues they just happen to be the wrong positions…

Thank you David, for pointing this out. Changing the distribution still leaves the basic question where the money growing trees have gone (and what was before those trees).

    David,

Are you aware of the fact that there is a direct correlation between illegitimacy and many of our society’s social problems – crime, drugs, teenage pregnancies, etc.? Giving money to single mothers will only encourage them, not stop them. How can welfare reform possibly have a positive affect on marriages when it rewards single parent families? Look at the facts buddy.

Absolutely correct Stan Vaughan. We are now at 40% illegitimacy and it will continue to go up, as the rewards for this behavior will probably be increased.

The american family is essentially dead.
This is the true legacy of american feminism.
