"Fill 'er up, freeloaders, this is AMERICA!"

(The author is the force behind www.menandmarriage.com)

Eleven score and thirteen years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a nation made up of people who wanted nothing but to live as free people, to earn an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay, to be both free from the oppression and tyranny of an imperial, heavy handed, confiscatory government and free to aspire to greatness, to self-actualize relative to the effort they put into their own lives.  On this independence day, 2009 we are being ruled over by what columnist Michael Barone referred to as a  “Gangster Government.” (http://www.aipnews.com/talk/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=4465&posts=3) Those of us who once believed that hard work paid off and sloth was evil now wretch with the federal government torpedoing of the great America economic machine and with every vomitous “Czar” assignment.  It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

Taking on the politics of the day in this posting will not convert one dissenter and will only solidify like minded choir members, which seems like a masturbatory waste of time.  Instead on this Independence Day, I wish to put a sacred cow in the cross hairs and pull the trigger on… the exploitive poor.  (Bang!)

My, how we have gotten so far away from “Give me your tired, your poor,Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free…”  Now the wretched refuse of [our] teeming shore to light the golden door of American promise is home grown.  They are no more interested in America’s promise than I am desirous to sprout a pair of robust mammary glands. The only promise they seek is a promise to support their lazy butts for as long as they can ride the gravy train. They want to be enabled (paid), indeed, rewarded for lousy choices, egregious repeated mistakes, unencumbered biological capacity, felonious behavior and ignorance, while devoting themselves to a welfare collecting future and a deadbeat-begetting-more-deadbeat lineage.  (Bang!)

I, for one, am sick of every last one of them.  They are not a huddled mass yearning to breathe free, they are a blight on this great nation that has become a ‘useful’ and numerous voting block. Just the kind of ‘Change’ that is torpedoing us.

Vladimir Lenin was half right when he said, “The capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them.”  It’s not the capitalists who would whore themselves out to the highest bidder.  Vlad would have been more correct to replace “capitalists” with “twenty-first century American politicians.”

The wretched refuse to whom I refer are not the poor who come here to make good, start at the bottom and work like hell to better themselves.  Those people deserve a helping hand.  As do the disabled, the mentally challenged, the ill, the destitute by no fault of their own.  Add to the list of those who deserve support people who are victims of uninvited and undeserved misfortune, the elderly who can’t always do for themselves and Cubs fans.  These people deserve our sympathy and assistant from the public coffers.  Allowances should also be made to those who typically do work but find themselves in hard times due to the current economic calamity.

These people are outnumbered, however, by an unrepentant, abusive underclass that deserves nothing who are breaking us as a nation. They deserve, in parlance that my father made famous in our house growing up, “a swift kick in the a$$.” They posture in the shadows of the deserving poor. Let us differentiate them as the “exploitive poor” because that is exactly what they are.  Somewhere along the line politically correct America cloaked them with a kind of false virtue as deserving yet down on their luck victims.  What a sham.  They are, at best, irresponsible, deadbeat citizens who deserve neither our sympathy nor our cash. They are the barbarians banging at the gates.

Sadly, they have become legitimized as useful idiots.  Every time a politician excites class-envy, income redistribution provocation as an appeal to the deadbeat vote (“You deserve what they have earned”) they all, in essence, urinate on the American flag and what made us once the greatest promise for mankind that the earth had ever known.

Let’s do some precision targeting.

Felons.

By 2011 one in every 178 U.S. residents will live in prison, according to a new report released today by the Public Safety Performance Project of The Pew Charitable Trusts. America will have more than 1.7 million men and women in prison, an increase of more than 192,000 from 2006. That increase could cost taxpayers as much as $27.5 billion over the next five years beyond what they currently spend on prisons.  (Bang!)
Illegitimacy
It seems that America’s young and fertile can manipulate an ipod like Horowitz does a Stradivarius fiddle, but they can’t quite figure out how to ‘divert the squirt.’
Nearly 1.5 million babies, a record, were born to unmarried women in the United States last year. Run the 1.5 million annual out of wedlock births per year, more or less, in recent years and those to come.  Why care?  The U.S. Census Bureau and the Institute for American Values figures that illegitimacy costs American taxpayers $112 billion a year.  Which opens the door to related medicaid, housing, food stamps, WIC (Women, Infants, and Children special supplemental nutrition program), SSI (Supplemental Security Income) programs, TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) outlays, and welfare.
A May, 2002 “Fragile Families Research Brief” from Princeton and Columbia Universities identified in a representative study that 94% of all cohabiting, unwed mothers relied on some type of public support.  Here’s to you parents, birth mother and sperm donor males, who will be reaching into my pocket to pay for your kids- (Bang!)

Dropouts
Each year, 1.2 million students drop out of school. That’s 7,000 each school day; one every 26 seconds. The societal costs are horrific. High-school dropouts are more likely to be incarcerated, to rely on social services, and to go without health insurance, etc.
Note to you students from a high school teacher: Zippy The Chimp could graduate from America’s public high schools.
(Bang!)

Substance Abusers

A study prepared by The Lewin Group for the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism estimated the total economic cost of alcohol and drug abuse to be $245.7 billion for 1992. Of this cost, $97.7 billion was due to drug abuse. This estimate includes substance abuse treatment and prevention costs as well as other healthcare costs, costs associated with reduced job productivity or lost earnings, and other costs to society such as crime and social welfare. The study also determined that these costs are borne primarily by governments (46 percent), followed by those who abuse drugs and members of their households (44 percent).  I am sorry for your psycho-tropic issues.  Honestly.  But I don’t want to pay for it.  Your addiction is breaking me. “Keep your laws of my body” my butt… keep your unhealthy appetites out of my wallet. (Bang!)

As I write tonight on this 4th of July, late evening, I toggle the channel changer between “COPS” on Spike and “Rocky” on AMC.  This a most appropriate contrast given this column.

My ultimate desire is to turn the above tax-sucking leeches suckling on the American teat into Soylent Green.  That’s a bit draconian, okeyfine. Just as the poor will always be among us, so, too, will be the good-for-nothing loafers.  There IS a next-best scenario.

What say these people lose their vote. Once you dip into the treasury as a result of your law breaking, your unwillingness to attain the most basic skills, your reckless reproduction, and/or your substance abuse, you lose your vote.  It’s that simple.   Want it back?  Pay back the American people- every penny.  We have lots of university types who have come up with a pretty accurate price tag.

Once these boat-anchors-on-America are neutered as a target market for politicians, the politicians will quit whoring out America for their votes.  They might actually start promoting mechanisms that (gasp) reward the kind of individual incentive and hard work that once made America great.

Benjamin Franklin saw this centuries ago and warned that “When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.”   How prophetic were his words?

According to the most recent data from the Congressional Budget Office, the bottom 50% of all income earners pay just 3.4% of the taxes collected! Conversely, the top 20% of income earners pay a whopping 85% of the taxes collected. In other words, 80% of income earners contribute a miserable 15% of the taxes collected.  You know who they’re voting for?  Sure you do.

Ok, Rocky just made it standing to the end of the fight with Apollo Creed.  Switch back to COPS.  The Houston police are making an arrest in an inner city neighborhood where everyone seems to be overweight, have the latest cell phone and no job.  The police are being very polite, all told.  To tell you the truth, I wish they’d just start thinning out the neighborhood.

Happy 233rd, America. Let’s hope 234 looks better.
