First Letter from the New Editor

Thursday, August 27, 2009
By Paul Elam

As an MRA (Men’s Rights Activist) I have written countless letters to the editor of more publications than I could possibly remember. But this is the first time in my life I have written a letter FROM the editor. So it seems an auspicious time to make the announcement that I have been asked, and have accepted, the position of Editor-in-Chief for Men’s News Daily.

It is also, I’m sure, a good time to make this a letter that is mercifully brief.

I am honored that publisher Mike LaSalle has put his trust in me to do this job, and I hope over time to earn your trust as well.

The truly nice part of this is that no undue weight will be put on my shoulders. Men’s News Daily is not the voice of a single man, or, as Mike so aptly told me, “MND is not built around one person, but a community, the men of Men’s News Daily.”

Perhaps it is that humble and judicious philosophy that has made MND the flagship of the Men’s Rights Movement on the internet. Whatever the reason, I consider myself fortunate to be here, as a part of this great community, working and hoping for the just ends of a worthy and noble cause.

Regards,

Paul Elam, Editor-in-Chief

    Paul Elam,
A few hours ago I had written a post thanking Bernard for having the courage of his convictions to put himself in the public eye as a Publisher of MND and now departing. But a few hours later I was glad to see that Paul Elam has accepted the Editors post. Frankly I had been apprehensive who would accept such a thankless task. As a father’s rights activist for nearly 30 years, you’re a pariah in political and mixed gender events. Even those who sought help during their time of crisis were willing to mock you when their own ox was no longer being gored.
Paul Elam: You’re refreshing writer I had not been familiar with you until I saw your post on MND. You can disagree without belittling or demonizing a MRA writer who happens to disagree with you. Some posters drive the timid and “walking wounded” away with harsh name calling. Perhaps your profession has taught you the skills many of us lack.
WELCOME ABOARD AS THE NEW SKIPPER. WE ARE LUCKY TO HAVE YOU! THANKS FOR MIKE La SALLE FOR MAKING SUCH A FINE SELECTION.

I am glad to see that someone as bright and articulate as Bernard Chapin took over his job. Thank you very much for doing so.

I don’t understand what the job descriptions here entail but I think Bernard is wonderful and I think you are also Paul. Well done and good luck.

An MRA that steps up. Showing a fine example of what we need many more men to do. Congratulations Paul. You will do a fine job.

    Mr. Elam…

While I’m glad to see that MND is becoming more of a MRA site it is still a home to republican fascism…And as long as MND or any MRA stays closely tied to the republican fascist party I will not and can not support it with either my time, effort or money…As tyranny is tyranny no matter the flavor whether it be liberal democrat or a conservative republican…

    this is great news Paul.
While i do not agree with your standpoint on everything, the very fact that you are willing to have an open, honest, and accepting conversation with all parties gives me the impression that MND is garnering more support. Instead of the “ramming our thoughts down your throat” mentality, it is refreshing to see a publication wit the mindset that you will get a lot further with honey than you will with vinegar.
    Congrats Paul
