This version of newThing, fetching the updated article list from my site, includes a bug fix and improvements to error handling. Bug: I tested. Really I did. At the last minute, I decided it looked nicer to associate the function call with the body element's onload property. I didn't think it would change the behavior of the page, so I did not retest exhaustively. Turns out it changed the page's behavior quite dramatically -- leaving the unwary visitor stuck on the page without being able to leave by use of the browser's back button. Status: Fixed Enhancements: Read-file error recovery was already good technically, but what the user saw was kind of corny and unprofessional looking. The way error messages are displayed has been changed, and messages have been adjusted.
