Who is Karen De Coster?

Editor:

Who is Karen De Coster? A member of the military is a "barely-motivated welfare recipient"? The military "is a huge welfare program for lower class and working class kids who have no job, no future, etc?" I'm sure Ms. De Coster is speaking from her vast military experience. She must have served in some capacity--I doubt that she gained her military expertise as a CPA and a college student (from her bio).

I spent twelve years in the Air Force. During that time, I obtained an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, a bachelor's degree in Psychology, and I earned a full academic scholarship to law school. Since that time, I completed law school and I am a practicing attorney. Obviously, I had no prospects and I joined the military solely for the great benefits.

You know, benefits such as 12 hour+ work days, being sent away from my family for months at a time with little or no notice, the great clothes, the delicious food (you've got to love MREs), the classy accomodations, the possibility of being killed in a far-away land--she's right, it's nothing but one great big welfare program.

I'm absolutely convinced that every person who enlists must be after those magnificent bennies and not joining out of some sense of duty. After all, according to Ms. De Coster, the military does nothing but give away money to the low-rent masses. It must be the CPAs ensuring that America remains a (relatively) free country. God Bless the Spread Sheet Warriors!
