New York City announced that it would open its first "gay
friendly" high school this fall. Pouring 3 million dollars
into renovation for the school, The Harvey Milk High School promises
an environment "tolerant to gay, bisexual, and transgendered
student".
Isn't that quaint. Liberals finally support school choice.
Republicans have taken initiatives, over the last decade, crusading
for school vouchers, i.e. giving parents a certain amount of money
so they can send their children to (better) private schools. The
general idea is that the more 'competition' entered into the school
system, the higher quality the schools would be. Vouchers would
help in particular urban children, who have failing schools at best;
dangerous schools at worst.
But the liberals said no. Think about all the problems! How can
we get a child in the inner city all the way out to a school in
the suburb, 30 miles away!?
And just think of the public school teachers. We're going to take
away their jobs. All the children who remain in the public schools
will suffer worse education, with the rest of the business going
elsewhere.
All these pesky problems and arguments seem to fall to the wayside
when the school of choice is going to be a gay-friendly one.
I mean, where are they? Where is Jesse Jackson and Nancy Pelosi,
worried that all this money being poured into this school will hurt
the rest of public schools? Where are their concerns that children
are going to have difficulty getting bussed to this new school?
Hillary, Al, where did you go?
Let it go on record that the liberal spin against school vouchers
has nothing to do with genuine concern, but maintaining their monopolistic
control over the public schools, and hence - young minds, which
they've enjoyed for 30 years. This is proven by the fact that they
roll the red carpets out, welcoming new schools, but only so as
long as they advance a certain agenda.
Tammy Bruce, a gay woman, has an excellent point about this new
school. Tammy has always argued that homosexuality, especially today,
is the product of trauma in a person's youth. She says all gay people
she knows had violence in their youth and had their first homosexual
experience as a minor, with an adult.
This new homosexual-friendly school promises to take in homosexual
students because they allegedly suffer depression, loneliness etc.
But symptoms such as depression and loneliness, she points out,
are not the result of homosexuality, but sexual abuse. The new school
will take in these broken, damaged kids, and not help them with
their trauma, but instead, with open, "tolerant" arms,
tell them they are homosexual - and don't you let anyone tell you
there is anything wrong with that!
With the failing record that public schools have, one would think
a new school being built would cater to smart/hard working children,
so they can get into a better school, challenge themselves, become
prepared for college, and get the ticket to a better life. But no,
we are getting a new gay-friendly school.
It appears molding children into their sick vision is more important
to educators today than producing competent children.
