The Nobel Peace Prize is viewed by many as a prestigious award,
only given to those who greatly improved mankind through invention
or good work. It perhaps, at one time, was this. But it is time
to call the Nobel Peace Prize for what it is today: a tactic used
for advancing political agendas.
This is the same award that was given to Yasser Arafat, who is
the leader of countries that send suicide bombers into civilian
areas. This is proof enough that the award is not given based on
merit, but for an agenda (namely: an agenda of people who hate the
United States and Israel).
The most obvious example of using the Nobel Peace Prize for a political
agenda was awarding it to Jimmy Carter in 2002. The head of the
Prize committee admitted explicitly that awarding Jimmy Carter was
meant to slap GW Bush in the face for initiating war in Iraq. From
CNN.com: “Asked if the selection of the former president was
a criticism of Bush, Gunnar Berge, head of the Nobel committee,
replied: ‘With the position Carter has taken on this, it can
and must also be seen as criticism of the line the current U.S.
administration has taken on Iraq.’"
If there was ever a man who was responsible for the deaths of millions
across the world - through irresponsible and appeasing foreign policy
- it is Jimmy Carter. There is no visible, positive result of Carter’s
work for “peace” throughout the world. The Nobel Prize
committee wanted to exploit the public’s naïve admiration
for the Nobel Prize, glamorizing Jimmy Carter and smearing George
W Bush.
The recent awarding of the peace prize to Iranian Muslim woman,
Shirin Ebadi, is no different. It was given to her as affirmation
for the political agenda she represents. Let us review the political
controversies in Iran.
There has been growing pressure among the Iranian people to overthrow
their oppressive, militant Islamic government. To be sure, there
is a clear distinction between the Iranian people and their thug
government, the Ayatollah. Indeed, we in America here of student
rebellions frequently.
There has been a major reformist movement in Iran, which allegedly
seeks to reform, not overthrow the oppressive Iranian government.
The reformist movement dominates the Iranian Parliament. It is led
by Iranian President Mohammad Khatami, who was overwhelmingly re-elected
into Parliament in June by “campaigning for a more open society
with greater social and political freedoms.”
It can be speculated that the Ayatollah are using the supposed
reformist government as a desperate attempt to retain power. Why
would a thug regime like the Ayatollah tolerate this kind of reformist
movement, which seeks to limit Ayatollah power, within their own
government? Because it is just a tactic meant to pacify the Iranian
people, and stop them from completely rebelling.
Shirin Ebadi is also an advocate of reform, not rebellion. This
is why she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
It was announced Ebadi got the award for her work with woman and
children’s rights. But, also couched in the Nobel committee’s
press release: “In an era of violence, [Ebadi] has consistently
supported non-violence. It is fundamental to her view that the supreme
political power in a community must be built on democratic elections.
She favours enlightenment and dialogue as the best path to changing
attitudes and resolving conflict.”
Of course, the Nobel Committee sees this – stopping the innocent
people of Iran from overthrowing an oppressive government –
as “peaceful.”
After winning the Nobel Prize, Ebadi immediately began to plead
for peace. A quote from Ebadi off of aljazeera.net: "We hope
that there will be no attack against Iran, because Iran does not
have the atomic bomb and the Iranian people are peaceful. After
so many years of war, they are tired of conflict,"
Conveniently, the Ayatollah made further statements against US
attack in Iran after this woman was recognized as a Nobel Peace
Prize award winner.
The pieces begin to fall together. This woman is their poster girl
because she opposes regime change in Iran. Socialist Europe, worried
the US will turn its attention to Iran next, was quick to give her
praise in just one of their tactics: the Nobel Prize.
The leftists will, of course, paint the reformist movement (which
they fully endorse, as you can see by browsing any leftist website)
as a peaceful, non-violent movement. They are always crying for
compromise, appeasement, and giving up as means of resolving disputes.
But, the Iranian people have had enough. It is time for a rebellion
in Iran – a complete regime change, not more promises of “reform.”
If the Nobel “Peace” Prize committee were genuinely
interested in peace, they would condemn an oppressive government
that kills and slaughters its own people. But they only condemn
“violent wars” when it is innocent people rising to
their self defense. Ask yourself whose side the Nobel Peace Prize
committee is on.
As Ayn Rand said, in a compromise between good and evil, it is
only evil that can win. Make no mistake about it: the alleged compromisers
of our time are evil, and know where it is they can profit.
There is nothing leftists would hate more than for the largely
pro-Western Iranian people to revolt against their oppressive government.
They are interested in keeping this awful, oppressive regime terrorizing
the Iranian people.
Leftists and people who sit on the Nobel committee are the kind
of people who give moral blank checks to Fidel Castro, the Ayatollah,
Saddam Hussein, etc., but condemn George W Bush, Ariel Sharon, and
Tony Blair as the root of all evil. They are thugs wrapped in the
banner of peace; wolves in sheep’s clothing.
The Nobel committee gave the award to Ebadi to affirm her political
message of supposed non-violence and dialogue. People will see her
efforts got the Nobel Peace Prize, and think what she is doing must
be something grande. And they are parading it around as the first
Muslim female to win a Nobel Prize – exploiting American’s
benevolent desire to see people of all kinds succeed, to boot.
It’s time to stop glamorizing the Nobel Prize, and call it
for what it is: a bunch of Europeans manipulating the public in
favor of their political agendas.
