Planned Parenthood President Gloria
Feldt lamented on November 6 that "yesterday's election was dire for
reproductive freedom. Despite gains in state house races, the Washington
leadership can now enact draconian policies that threaten fundamental
liberties.
"This day must mark our recommitment
to changing the political landscape for reproductive rights. This
is not a time for retreat. Rather this is the day when Planned Parenthood
redoubles its efforts to ensure passage of laws and policies that
protect our fundamental human right to make private childbearing decisions.
"We will organize nationwide both
to protect the reproductive rights we now have and to aggressively
move forward an agenda that secures those rights. We are grateful
to the many thousands of activists who worked tirelessly for reproductive
freedom in the 2002 elections. Our daily vigilance now is of the utmost
urgency."
With that, Planned Parenthood goes
for, not only reproductive rights, but the next generation's definition
of sex. They've come out with SEXTIONARY.
Why? Because America's adolescents
have been depending on "unreliable sources" for "life-saving" sexual
health information. SEXTIONARY will take care of that! It's Planned
Parenthood's authoritative sex ed manual for the Internet.
Cartoons are the mode-sex was never
more fun. Further, Planned Parenthood provides "sexuality and relationship
information that you can trust."
Like, rah-rah for the home team!
Planned Parenthood sets forth a maximum
range of sex health terms and subjects that are "commonly misunderstood."
Siters are given various options for getting in the know-"Games" and
"Movies" and "Quizzers" among them.
Short films focus on homosexuality,
HIV and AIDS, abstinence and peer pressure, STI and contraption. "Lipstick,"
a flick about a teen girl's courage to "come out".
"The Monster" opens with a "glimpse
into the world of guys"-dealing with the stigma of having HIV. (Planned
Parenthood does note the info piece was scribed by none other than
incarcerated youth at Rikers Island.)
Naturally a gift for teens from Planned
Parenthood would not be complete without championing murdering babies.
So "Facts about Abortion Quiz" is right there alongside the other
genius youth-molding models. It tests the know how of kids when it
comes to learning "some important information about abortion."
Like: Q: "Worldwide, how many women
will have an abortion by the time they are 45 years old?"
A: "Nearly half of all women will
have an abortion by the time they are 45 years old. About five million
women in the U.S. become pregnant every year. Half of those pregnancies
are unintended, and 1.2 million end in abortion."
Next Q: "If I decide to have an abortion,
do I have to tell my parents about my decision, or get their permission?"
A: "While more than half of the teenagers
who choose abortion talk about it with at least one parent, telling
a parent is only required in states with mandatory parental involvement
laws. The Supreme Court has ruled, however, that there must be another
option to parental notification or consent for a minor. It is called
'judicial bypass.' In judicial bypass, a judge can either rule that
the young woman is mature enough to make this decision without a parent's
consent, or that she is not mature enough to make this decision without
informing them."
Traditional Values Coalition Exec
Andrea Lafferty's reaction to all this necessary data? SEXTIONARY
is "the kind of thing they would do on Sesame Street...but Sesame
Street with sex."
So there you have it, friends. Planned
Parenthood quakes in light of recent elections. So to pull it all
together, SEXTIONARY for kids should do it, eh?
