Free Muslims Coalition Condemns latest Terrorist Attack in Israel
A Suicide bomber blew himself up in Israel on Sunday. The bombing critically wounded
two Israelis who suffered burns all over their bodies.
While there was no immediate claim of responsibility, various terrorist groups have
threatened attacks to avenge a recent Israeli raid that killed five Palestinians.
In response to the terrorist attack against Israel, an Islamic Jihad leader said the
attack "came as a natural reaction to the occupation crimes," and that "It is our right
to retaliate."
The Free Muslims Coalition rejects arguments such as the one made by Islamic Jihad to justify killing Israeli civilians and calls on American Muslim leaders to publicly condemn terrorism against Israelis and Jews.
The Free Muslims Coalition recognizes that American Muslim organizations have become
more aggressive in condemning terrorism over the last few months. However, the Free
Muslims believe that it is essential for American Muslim organizations to specifically
condemn terrorism against Israel by HAMAS, Islamic Jihad and other terrorist
organizations.
The fact that many American Muslim organizations believe that the Palestinians are
persecuted by Israel cannot be used to justify terrorism against innocent Israelis and
Jews. Nor can the treatment of Palestinians be used to carve out an exception for
Palestinian terrorism. Carving out an exception for Palestinian terrorism because the
Palestinians have a just cause is morally wrong and dangerous. It is dangerous because
every group thinks their cause is just and if we make an exception for terrorism against
Israelis and Jews then everyone will want an exception for their cause.
Moreover, the Free Muslims believe that Muslims who murder Jews and Christians can just
as easily murder other Muslims. In fact, Islamist terrorists have began terrorizing other Muslims all over the world. Over the last two years, Muslims were attacked in
Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other
places.
One of the primary reasons that American Muslim organizations have very little
credibility among main stream America is because of their unwillingness to specifically
condemn terrorism against Israel by terrorist groups such as HAMAS and Islamic Jihad.
The Free Muslims Coalition strongly urges American Muslim organizations to condemn the
latest terrorist attack in Israel and to publicly call HAMAS and Islamic Jihad terrorist
organizations rather than calling them freedom fighters. American Muslim organizations
must set an example for the Muslim world by taking a zero tolerance position towards
terrorism and that includes terrorism against Israel.
This is not to say that American Muslims cannot condemn Israeli policies or Israel's
treatment of Palestinians. However, Israel's policies should never be used to justify
terrorism against Israelis and Jews.
