President Bush Has No Sense of Reality

by Sgt. Steve Boggess

President Bush has no sense of Reality.

This was according to an op-ed piece that recently ran in the New York Times. In that article, the author wonders if reality ever comes knocking on Bush’s door. This is in yet another attempt at giving Californian Cindy Sheehan, who is camping out a few miles from the Bush ranch, even more media attention than she already has.

Memo to New York Times: Cindy doesn’t need any more help, you, along with the rest of the liberal media, have already given her more than she needs, or deserves.

In his article, columnist Bob Herbert continues on by saying: “Mr. Bush is the commander in chief who launched a savage war in Iraq and now spends his days happily riding his bicycle in Texas.”

Bob, do you really believe the words you’re typing?

In an attempt to get down to the “nitty gritty” about the war, Bob describes how the war is going “badly and lives have been lost by the thousands.” No Bob, just fewer than two thousand at present. So, if you want to bother with writing a story about the war and want to estimate at the amount of lives lost, get your facts straight first.

Bob now compares the attention the war dead are getting is less than the search for Natalie Holloway, the Alabama teenager who disappeared in Aruba in May.

No, the soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice are given attention in the national media, who in turn, make it sound like we are in the proverbial “Vietnam quagmire” Senators Ted Kennedy and John Kerry like so much to refer to it as.

All our hearts go out to the Holloway family Bob, lets not lessen it with trivializing both, the deaths of the troops, and Natalie’s disappearance.

Bob goes on to say: “If only the war were more entertaining, less of a downer. Perhaps then we could meet the people who are suffering and dying in it.”

Just when you think the media can’t be anymore calloused about the troops who give up so much to defend our country, this comes along.

He mentions all the talk of supporting the troops, and how they have become a low priority for most Americans, and that if the nation really cared, Bush wouldn’t be frolicking around at his ranch. He would be burning the midnight oil, trying to find a way to get the troops out of the terrible fix Bush put them in.

I think if Bob Herbert ever glanced out the window of his office, he would see that there are Americans who do support the troops. I’m sure there are bumper stickers on cars in the shape of a yellow ribbon with the words “Support the Troops” on them.

As far as the so-called “terrible fix” that Bush put them in, getting deployed and sometimes fighting wars just comes with the territory of wearing this uniform.

He then claims that only the troops and their families are sacrificing for this war, and that very few of them are coming from the privileged economic classes.

Let’s see, Senator Kit Bond’s (R-Missouri) only son Samuel age 24 is serving as a Marine Intelligence Officer in Iraq. Rep Joe Wilson’s (R-South Carolina) son Alan is also serving as an Intelligence Officer in Iraq. Representative’s Tod Akin of Missouri and Duncan Hunter of California, and also South Dakota Democratic Senator Tim Johnson also have loved ones in Iraq.

In summarizing his column, Bob Herbert states that “something is wrong with this picture.” The picture he is describing is that of college kids who are looking forward to frat parties and playing video games, while their less fortunate peers are rattling around like moving targets in Baghdad dodging improvised explosive devices, and rocket propelled grenades.

No Bob, the only thing wrong with this picture is how you see it, and wrote about it. You speak of the troops as if they were in a bad way due to Bush’s so-called incompetence, and how they are dying for no reason.

All you have to do Bob is look at the words you typed in your article, and that is one good reason the troops are dying and defending our country—your right to express your stupidity—something called freedom of the press.

Are you kidding? Do you imply by this statement that Iraqi lives don't count? What else could you be implying? How sad, that the sanctity of life, for you, only applies to those who are American. How indicative of the Bush Administration's mentality. You render your entire rant worthless with such discriminatory "care" and just as the rules of logic dictate an argument cannot proceed past a flawed premise, I decide at this point to stop reading this "article."

So, when you left wingers snipe at conservative bloggers who aren't in the military, therefore are "chickenhawks", I always assume you'd give more creedence to
someone who is in the military. Thank you for for showing the left's true colors- that no one is allowed to have an opinion unless they are yours, and you rally couldn't care less about the miltary.

If geniuses like yourself ACTUALLY were concerned with Iraqi lives, you would be foaming at the mouth at the human vermin using suicide bombers, car bombs, and IED's to slaughter Iraqis working to build a democratic form of government.

If geniuses like yourself ACTUALLY were concerned with Iraqi lives, you would have wanted Saddam dislodged from power LONG ago, before he killed some 300,000 Iraqi citizens.

I understood that the gentleman writing the post was only referring to American lives lost. Big deal - whining, sniveling P.C. morons like yourself practically wet your panties at the chance to demonstrate how "heartless" and "self-centered" straightforward and decent individuals such as Sgt. Steve Boggess.

Take your crocodile tears for the dead Iraqis elsewhere, Einstein.

I'd say YOU are the one that needs to get your facts straight. I assume the 25,000 dead Iraqis mean nothing to you? After all, aren't we supposedly there to free these people? Oh, wait. No, we're there because they have WMDs. Oh no -- wait. We're there to fight terrorism.

I give up -- I can't remember this week's reason.

He then claims that only the troops and their families are sacrificing for this war, and that very few of them are coming from the privileged economic classes.

Are you saying that's NOT true? Just because you can cite a couple of wealthy kids serving doesn't mean the majority of them are wealthy. I didn't realize that the fact the it's mostly poorer families in the military was in dispute.

The fact is, that's exactly right. Taking a 5 week vacation right now is a profoundly stupid thing to do. Most Americans are deeply concerned about this war according to the latest polls. Their President needs to do a bit more than be "on vacation" right now.

I think if Bob Herbert ever glanced out the window of his office, he would see that there are Americans who do support the troops. I’m sure there are bumper stickers on cars in the shape of a yellow ribbon with the words “Support the Troops” on them.

Yes, it takes a tremendous amount of sacrifice to put a bumper sticker on your car.

How about supporting the troups by bringing them home? Cindy Sheehan is doing far more to "support the troups" than some yuppie with a ribbon.

You speak of the troops as if they were in a bad way due to Bush’s so-called incompetence, and how they are dying for no reason.

"So-called"? Even the administration is now admitting they badly misjudged things -- just like critics of the war tried to tell them at the beginning.

If geniuses like yourself ACTUALLY were concerned with Iraqi lives, you would be foaming at the mouth at the human vermin using suicide bombers, car bombs, and IED's to slaughter Iraqis working to build a democratic form of government.

Actually, WE have killed 4 times as many innocent Iraqis as the bad guys have. Get your facts straight.

>>>>>>>>I'd say YOU are the one that needs to get your facts straight. I assume the 25,000 dead Iraqis mean nothing to you?<<<<<<

Actually, you probably ought to start by trying to get your head dislodged from whichever orifice you've happily had it lodged in, genius.

You whine about 25,000 dead Iraqis..... as if the 300,000 Iraqis that Saddam killed never existed.

>>>>>>>>Oh, wait. No, we're there because they have WMDs.<<<<<<<<

LOL....... and because we did not find any WMD, whining morons want to tuck their tails between their legs and run off, leaving an even bigger mess in Iraq than the one that Saddam created?

>>>>>>>>>Oh no -- wait. We're there to fight terrorism.<<<<<<<<

Actually our troops are supporting the creation of a democratic form of government in Iraq, something that geniuses like yourself tend to conveniently forget.

Then again, I'm teasing you for your apparent stupidity, knowing full well that you're probably not THAT stupid. More likely you're just another scumbag who would prefer to see our policy in Iraq fail, and that nation fall to whichever murderous organization slaughters the most.

>>>>>>>>>>I give up -- I can't remember this week's reason.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

I'll bet that the wind whistles between your ears.... if you paid attention to our government's statements leading up to the invasion of Iraq and the ouster of Saddam, you would know that we invaded for MULTIPLE reasons, (although geniuses like yourself tend to remember only "WMD".

>>>>>>>>>>Taking a 5 week vacation right now is a profoundly stupid thing to do. Most Americans are deeply concerned about this war according to the latest polls. Their President needs to do a bit more than be "on vacation" right now.<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Our nation's presidents DO seem to take long vacations - and that fact relates not just to Bush, but to Clinton, and their predecessors as well.

Fact is, presidents who micromanage wars are not particularly effective - remember Johnson's administration screwing up Air Force priorities during the Vietnam War by hand-picking their targets for them?

In fact, the people training the fledgling Iraqi security forces and the people writing the Iraqi constitution are the ones who dare not take any vacation right now, if you care to name a couple of more urgent priorities.

>>>>>>>>>>Yes, it takes a tremendous amount of sacrifice to put a bumper sticker on your car.<<<<<<<<<<<<

About as much sacrifice as camping out in Texas, then running off to care for their parents takes.......

>>>>>>>>How about supporting the troups by bringing them home? <<<<<<<

Now there's an idea, military genius! Oh... wait, that's already in the planning. You did not believe that we were going to occupy Iraq permanenty, did you?

Of course, military geniuses like yourself are ready to cut and run right NOW, before Iraq's new government has built up the means to control and defend their own soil, not to mention those democratic values that so many have died for.

Of course, if we WERE to simply quickly leave Iraq and the elected government were to fall under the bombs and bullets of the insurgents, then yammering morons in America and Europe could howl with glee at our failure to support our new allies in Iraq.

Time to grow the hell up, genius. We started the change from Saddam's threats and bloody rule to a democratic and peaceful Iraq, in a region of the world notably short on democracies - we had better stay and FINISH THE JOB.

>>>>>>>>Cindy Sheehan is doing far more to "support the troups" than some yuppie with a ribbon.<<<<<<<<<<

Really? Which moron told you that?..... and why are you stupid enough to believe them?

Cindy Sheehan has the right to her opinions, but other than appearing as a nutjob and drama queen, she hasn't sparked my interest.

>>>>>>>>>Even the administration is now admitting they badly misjudged things -- just like critics of the war tried to tell them at the beginning.<<<<<<<<

Got news for you, military genius. I doubt that you can find many wars where we have NOT "misjudged things", and we're not alone in being guilty of THAT.

On the other hand, simply running away and turning our backs on the new democracy in Iraq would be the most foolish act of all.

Our forces occupied Japan after WWII for 7 years, during which they built a peaceful democracy. How long have we been occupying Iraq again?

>>>>>>>>>>>Actually, WE have killed 4 times as many innocent Iraqis as the bad guys have. Get your facts straight.<<<<<<<<<<

Which moron told you that bit of idiocy...... and why are you stupid enough to believe him or her?

Mind you, we killed MANY Iraqis during the invasion, mostly combatants, Einstein.

We did NOT target their civilians with car bombs and suicide bombers, either.

So how just how many Iraqi civilians have the "insurgents" butchered since the fall of Saddam versus how many Iraqi civilians our forces killed, do you believe?

I rather doubt that we mistakenly killed 4 times as many as the "insurgents" have.

Our forces did not behead helpless captives on videotape, either.

Oh, wait..... our forces DID make Iraqi captives create "butt pyramids", if you're looking for excuses to blame our military.

Time to wake the hell up, dislodge your head (if you are capable of doing so) and join the grownups (if you can). Getting your facts straight would be sheer icing.

"BREAKING NEWS"
===============

-Energy and Asset Technology, Inc. (EGTY) owns a global license to market
the genetically enhanced Global Cedar growth trees, with plans to
REVOLUTIONIZE the forest-timber industry.

These newly enhanced Global Cedar trees require only 9-12 years of growth before they can
be harvested for lumber, whereas worldwide growth time for lumber is 30-50 years.

Other than growing at an astonishing rate, the Global Cedar has a number of other benefits.
Its natural elements make it resistant to termites, and the lack of oils and sap found in the wood
make it resistant to forest fire, ensuring higher returns on investments.

the wood is very lightweight and strong, lighter than Poplar and over twice
as strong as Balsa, which makes it great for construction. It also has
the unique ability to regrow itself from the stump, minimizing the land and
time to replant and develop new root systems.

Based on current resources and agreements, EGTY projects revenues of $140 Million
with an approximate profit margin of 40% for each 9-year cycle. With anticipated
growth, EGTY is expected to challenge Deltic Timber Corp. during its initial 9-year cycle.

Deltic Timber Corp. currently trades at over $38.00 a share with about $153 Million in revenues.
As the reputation and demand for the Global Cedar tree continues to grow around the world
EGTY believes additional multi-million dollar agreements will be forthcoming. The Global Cedar nursery has produced
about 100,000 infant plants and is developing a production growth target of 250,000 infant plants per month.

Energy and Asset Technology is currently in negotiations with land and business owners in New Zealand,
Greece and Malaysia regarding the purchase of their popular and profitable fast growing infant tree plants.
Inquiries from the governments of Brazil and Ecuador are also being evaluated.

Well said Sgt,,, I'm sick of the liberal press trying to give comfort and aid to the enemy.
I also honor Casey Sheehan for his sacrafice for our country.
BTW for all of you who commented the article was about American troops and was not meant (obviously) to address Iraqi lives lost..duh.

Hmmm. Well, here is a complete transcript of George W. Bush's ultimatum to Saddam Hussein, informing the American public of the coming invasion. No mention of these "multiple reason" you speak of.

Why is it necessary for those who defend Bush and his policies to use rude and insulting language when addressing those with whom they disagree? As for Mr. Bush's vacation, he has taken more vacation time than any other president. He has spent 20% of his time in office at his ranch, and a lot of time at other places like his family's home in Kennebunkport, Maine. During wartime, one would expect a president to be in Washington, working around the clock to end the war and bring troops home as soon as possible. During wartime one would expect the president to ask the populace to pull together in support of the country. Instead he has told us all to "go shopping."

I wrote that it's likely that the wind whistles between your ears and it seems that I was correct, Einstein..............

You chose to search the "complete transcript of George W. Bush's ultimatum to Saddam Hussein" for a COMPLETE our government's reasons for invading Iraq?

What makes you believe that the following sentences from Bush's speech were not ALSO reasons for invading Iraq, genius:

"The regime has a history of reckless aggression in the Middle East. It has a deep hatred of America and our friends. And it has aided, trained and harbored terrorists, including operatives of al Qaeda."

If you recall, Saddam's forces fired on coalition warplanes in the "no-fly zone" in the months and years leading up to the invasion.

If you paid attention to the news, you might also remember that Saddam defied multiple U.N. resolutions as well.

I can't force you to think for yourself. If you actually ARE interested in having a more complete perspective of our reasons to invade Iraq, just have any reasonably intelligent adult read the transcript of Bush's speech on your behalf.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Why is it necessary for those who defend Bush and his policies to use rude and insulting language when addressing those with whom they disagree?<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Why would it be necessary for those individuals who seek to undermine our troops and their mission to have IQ's somewhat lower than their shoe sizes?...;-)

A bit more seriously.......

I DO tend to openly (even rudely) question the IQ's of more simple-minded (and incautious) individuals regarding a wide variety of subjects.......

............not to mention the IQ's of individuals who might either be pro- or anti-Bush.

In fact, some imbeciles are NEITHER "pro-Bush" NOR "anti-Bush"

Bush is not the best president that we have ever had in the White House, nor is he the worst.

He's a politician, just like those fine individuals "serving" in Congress.

Many of the politicians opposing him aren't exactly guaranteed to be much more honorable, intelligent, competent or any other of the more more commendable qualities often attributed to great political leaders, either.

Get a grip.

Stupid individuals who post incautiously OUGHT to be told that they're stupid, whether you care to agree or not.

Not all of them are educable, mind you.........

...........but at least some of the nitwits', mental fogs lift for a bit in confusion if not downright embarrassment.

>>>>>>>>>>>>As for Mr. Bush's vacation, he has taken more vacation time than any other president.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Nobody in their right mind disagrees that Bush takes plenty of vacation time........ but keep in mind that it's likely that most "journalists" who claim so are too damned lazy to actually do research concerning all our presidents' "vacation time" back to George Washington before making such a statement as you have.

Frankly I doubt that all presidents truthfully and thoroughly recorded their "vacation times".

I did find one journalist who believes that Bush has taken the most vacation IN THE PAST 36 YEARS of any president, for all that is worth.

>>>>>>>>>>During wartime, one would expect a president to be in Washington, working around the clock to end the war and bring troops home as soon as possible.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Got news for you, military genius -bringing the troops home "as soon as possible" would result in Iraq's fledging democracy getting stomped by scumbags led by individuals such as those human vermin videotaped beheading helpless prisoners.

In fact, you might just be one of those morons who would delight at the chaos and bloodshed that would result from the U.S. withdrawing anytime soon............

..... so that OTHER morons could begin to snicker at the U.S. turning their backs on those Iraqis who need our military forces to STAY to prevent just that from occuring (and asked our government forces to STAY!).

Their security forces need time to learn to fight the human vermin sending car bombs and suicide bombers, beheading prisoners, not to mention kidnapping and butchering individuals trying to lead Iraq into a peaceful democracy.

Or perhaps you preferred Saddam's form of government?..........

....... or governments such as the pseudotheocracy of neighboring Iran, who apparently are providing shelter and arms for at least some of those vermin fighting against our (and the present Iraqi government's) forces?
