Israel May Attack Iran Sooner Rather Than Later

The Iranian foreign minister reportedly met with leading figures from three Islamofascist groups in the hopes of building a united front against Israel. The meeting occurred days before the escalation of attacks against Israeli targets.
The minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, met with leaders from terrorist groups Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah in Damascus, Syria on November 15, according to the Sunday Times of London.
Among those who attended the meeting were Khaled Meshaal, the Hamas leader, and a deputy leader of Islamic Jihad, which masterminded the suicide bombing of a shopping mall in Netanya, Israel that killed five Israeli citizens last week. Ahmed Jibril, leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command, also participated in the talks.
According to a spokesperson for the PLO, the attendees all confirmed that what is going on in Palestine is connected to what is going on in Iraq, Syria, Iran and Lebanon. And seven days after the Damascus terrorist summit, Hezbollah began firing rockets and mortars at Israeli targets from across the Lebanese border. Also, Hamas threatens to nullify their ceasefire agreement with Israel at the year's end.
This meeting coupled with fears of Iran's nuclear program and the Iranian's ability to secure weapons and materials from Russia, has provoked Israelis to the point of readying their armed forces.
Israel's military has been ordered by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to be prepared by March 2006 for possible air strikes on secret uranium enrichment sites in Iran, according to the Israeli news media. Sharon's order was given after Israeli intelligence warned him that Iran was operating secret uranium enrichment installations believed to be located in civilian areas of Iran.
Iran’s cat-and-mouse game with the weak International Atomic Energy Agency over nuclear inspections appears to be an indication that Iran is playing for time and may be close to possessing a nuclear weapon and a delivery system. In addition, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's fierce anti-Israeli rhetoric may be a signal to other Islamofascists that Iran is prepared to move forward with their weapons program. His recent statements, including Israel should be moved to Europe, are intensifying Israeli fears.
The crisis may begin in early March, when Mohamed El-Baradei, the head of the IAEA, will present his anticipated report on Iran's nuclear program to the UN Security Council. El-Baradei, now a Nobel Peace Prize winner, warned Iranian government officials that the world is “losing patience” with them.
Israeli military officials privately say that the end of March will be the “point of no return” after which Iran would possess the capability to enrich large quantities of uranium to build a nuclear warhead in two to four years. Iran is believed to already have a nuclear weapons delivery system that is capable of targeting Israel, thanks to the Russians.
“Israel — and not only Israel — cannot accept a nuclear Iran,” Sharon warned recently on the Fox News Channel. “We have the ability to deal with this and we're making all the necessary preparations to be ready for such a situation.”
The Sunday Times of London claims the order to prepare for a possible attack went through the Israeli defense ministry to the chief of staff. Sources inside special forces command confirmed that “G” readiness — the highest stage — for an operation was announced last week.
Gholamreza Aghazadeah, head of the Atomic Organization of Iran, warned yesterday that his country would produce nuclear fuel. “There is no doubt that we have to carry out uranium enrichment,” he said.
He promised it would not be done during forthcoming talks with European negotiators. But although Iran insists it wants only nuclear energy, Israeli intelligence officials strongly believe that the Iranian officials are being deceptive and have no intention of giving up on their supposed right to create nuclear weapons.
Intelligence operations from a secret Israeli base located in northern Iraq claim to have identified a number of Iranian uranium enrichment sites unknown to the IAEA.
If a military operation is approved, Israel will use air and ground forces against several nuclear targets in the hope of stalling Tehran’s nuclear program for years, according to Israeli military sources.
If an attack moves forward, Israel would call on its top special forces soldiers in Unit 262, which is the equivalent of the US Navy SEALS or Delta Force. They may also utilize the F-15I strategic 69 Squadron, which can strike Iran and return to Israel without refueling.
Israel has a history of preemptive strikes. In 1981, Israel destroyed a nuclear facility in Iraq. In the 1967, they mounted an airstrike against Eqypt and destroyed most, if not all, of the Egyptian air force. This occurred just before the start of the Six Days War.
