Governor Blanco: Confession Is Good For The Soul.
Short and Sweet.
According to NewsMax.com, September 15th, 2005 and elsewhere, Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco has taken responsibility for her hasty, rude and harsh tone in criticizing the President and has backed down following a muttered confession caught on the air where the Governor admitted that she blew it.
It is reported that the Governor said, "I really should have called for the military," while chatting with her press secretary in between TV interviews. "I really should have started that in the first call."
But what will happen when a Liberal takes responsibility?
Janet Reno said she took responsibility for Waco’s holocaust, but she did nothing. That shot the party's popularity up, didn't it? She went on to take away Elian Gonzalez. Another public relations success story.
I can understand your doubt, Governor, it can come over you at the worst possible hour. It would be understandible if only you two hadn't been so very vicious in your attacks on the President only to admit secretly otherwise. If only you two hadn't been so very, very wrong and the price of your mistake to others so very, very high.
Even at this writing, The Governor is working very hard to participate, lead and shape the recovery effort. But after the display at the outset, it seems like community service. What about restitution for those confiscated weapons as a real start?
Here is the chance for a Democrat to dignify the party by doing something a Democrat hasn’t done for a very long time: make it right by resigning. I've heard the we're better with you than without you argument, but then again, the People should not be held hostage a third time.
Set the example and match the ethic and responsibility of the Right, Governor: resign, please.
Now.
Oh, and please return those guns your officials confiscated, please.
If you don’t resign and believe that community service will fix things, then nothing has changed: if you don’t return the weapons confiscated from law-abiding persons without delay, it won’t be good for the party.
And that, Governor, will be good for the country.
