AMERICA CHEERS FOR BLAIR-BUSH VICTORY

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

Once again, the liberal press delights in making Prime Minister Tony Blair on his exit before he unpacks his luggage for another stay at 10 Downing Street. That of course means that the liberal press in slapping Blair around a bit is actually slapping around Blair friend, George W. Bush. Go figure.

The truth is that a Blair win is quite remarkable, considering the daily negative forces at work in British politics, considering that Blair has brought his party once again to the fore as the enemy tried its meanest best to oust him to the back fence.

Yet Blair is right there where he wants to be. And for the American public, that is surely a plus. It was Blair who stood alongside America in Operation Iraqi Freedom and beyond. It was Blair who stood side by side with Mr. Bush to endorse freedoms wherever possible.

The Washington Post reminds America of Blair’s 2003 address to the US Congress: "’Anywhere, anytime ordinary people are given the chance to choose, the choice is the same: freedom, not tyranny; democracy, not dictatorship; the rule of law, not the rule of the secret police.’"

There were other freedom nation leaders who likewise echoed that same commendable refrain. But it was Blair who flew across the ocean or stayed on his side to underline the need for liberty countries to share their find particularly with those trodden down by dictators.

Blair was loyal to America. Blair was there. Blair was in the same box as Mr. Bush when Germany, France and Russia decided to play mule-stubborn against releasing millions of Iraqis from Saddam Hussein’s vice.

"Mr. Blair has been a discreet but persistent advocate for America's better instincts. But he did not stop with those reassuring words (to the US Congress)," The Washington Post reported.

He continued with: "’And what America must do is show that this is a partnership built on persuasion, not command. Let us start preferring a coalition and acting alone if we have to, not the other way round. True, winning wars is not easier that way, but winning the peace is. And we have to win both.’"

As a pro-Bush American, I am most encouraged by Blair seated right where he is. And may he stay there a good, long time.

BUSH PUSHES DEMOCRACY. PUTIN DOESN’T GET IT

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

Is it because he’s stung by the Ukraine newly-come-upon governmental powers sidelining Russia for America’s brand of democracy? Could be.

Whatever the case, Russian President Vladimir Putin is not quite happy faced about the Bush-Rice hymn singing on behalf of freedom evangelism. He has complained to the United States press in particular that he wishes the duo would mire up in the White House, leaving Russian officials to its own house plans.

With that, Mr. Bush turns up the democracy rhetoric while visiting the Baltic States. He knows that the freedom spread presently taking place global is what America is here for. The United States exists not only to protect its own but also to share its liberties with others, particularly those downtrodden by despots.

Putin likes to think back to the good old days of Communism, per his various speeches lately. As to what was good about Communism, only a biased Putin would know the answer to that question. There are even those in Russia presently attempting to resurrect Stalin as a prize figure. He was in charge of his millions being slain in one fashion or another; but then again, we all make mistakes.

Anyhow, whatever the Russian response, whether from Putin or the grassroots pro-Stalinites, it does not make sense. Yet again it just may be the Ukraine hunger for democracy that has set off Putin. His ego is at stake, after all. And Putin, though a little fellow, enjoys a very large ego stance.

As UPI reports today, "Bush Hails Democracy in the Baltics."

That’s the cheering headline as the US President makes his way from nation to nation, especially encouraging the small countries to carry on with the freedom banners.

Mr. Bush has a particular liking for the small and aligned, the little but loyal. He showed that with the recognition given to the US-led Coalition during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was the first to point out the small nations that came onboard for releasing millions from oppression. Other mocked him, but he stayed true to his defense of the faithful but small countries.

So it is this weekend. Mr. Bush stays right in there with the tiny nations for liberty, telling them that they are lights in a dark world. They are to remain firm in their freedom convictions. They just may be the ones to convince Putin that democracy works quite well. At least that’s what Mr. Bush delivered in his speeches to the people in the streets.

"President Bush met Baltic state leaders in Latvia Saturday to express solidarity with the small and often-occupied nations. The visit is part of Bush's trip to Moscow to join other world leaders marking the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II, the BBC said.

"’When I see President Putin, I will remind him again that democracies on his border will make it easier for Russia to grow in a peaceful way. Democracies are peaceful,’ Bush told Georgia's state TV during a Friday interview.

"’I will remind him that this is not a plot by anybody or any nation. This is just the inevitable course of humankind because all humans want to be free.’"

That’s typical flag-waving Mr. US President at his best. He won’t back down when it comes to principle. And the chief principle that the most powerful nation leader is giving forth during his time in office is FREEDOM TO ALL.

I wonder when Putin will get the message. The Ukraine did.

PRO-BUSH OPTIMISM REMAINS. ANTI-BUSH PRESS CLOUDS OPINION

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

When the American liberal press constantly staccatos anti-Bush agenda, America starts singing the blues — a little bit. Of course, that makes sense, especially when the mainstream media is slamming away in Democratic overloaded geographies. There the anti-Bush public is hearing what it wants to hear and it reacts to pollsters accordingly.

Last evening on Larry King Live, Lauren Bacall was interviewed. He asked her a question that led to her championing "the ‘L’ word," as she called it. In other words, Bacall went into her typical litany drive of championing liberalism.

"Liberalism is open to everyone. It’s because of liberalism that the country has what it has." And on and on she went with a tired refrain from decades ago, recalling past Presidents she’s admired. Then she shifted into present-tense by bemoaning the movies today, the theater today, the creative output in films, etc.

I could hardly believe my ears when hearing her actually blaming "the climate of the country" on the lack of "creative" output in Hollywood and like environs! She obviously was referring in not too veiled terms to the Bush administration as being the cause for lousy movies.

Of course, actors and actresses of past acclaim, when interviewed on TV, give forth with the "name" personages of the past. Usually they then give token appreciation to today’s fare but with an obvious regret that it’s not "what it used to be."

Therefore, with that backdrop, Bacall went into her sophisticated low-voice woeful moan about today’s creative surge plummeting because of the condition of the nation. What in logic’s name does that mean?

Of course, she meant that Mr. Bush being in the White House is the reason for anything she considers negative from sea to shining sea. So much for Bacall reality.

King was smart. He did not wed into her comments. Finally, she responded to him by saying that she did not think he was liking what she was saying. All I could think was that King is savvy enough, liberal that he really is, to recall the Red States win of last November. Much of his audience is from that contingent. He was not going to kiss up to Bacall’s evident blaming the Bush team for anything this-or-that present-tense.

At the close of the interview, King gallantly kissed Bacall’s hand. I thought that was sweet balance.

So it is with America when liberal press gets to their nerves. Americans are constantly hammered at by negative newsfeeds and so they react accordingly, just as I am sure that there were those watching Bacall who shouted from their living rooms a resounding Amen to her defense of "the ‘L’ word."

Therefore, note Donald Lambro of The Washington Times reporting today concerning Republican pollster Whit Ayres’ remarks: "’Public opinion lags behind economic reality. For the past three months we've been inundated by stories about rising gas prices, a slowing economy, large deficits, the impending bankruptcy in Social Security, gridlock over judges.

"’All that has created a bit of sourness in the public mood right now,’ he said. ‘It's nothing like a major depression in public opinion, but more of a momentary indigestion.’"

John Zogby reported that Americans are "generally optimistic" about their tomorrows. In fact, he stated that ’I am surprised when they tell us they are optimistic about their own future. The numbers are higher than they were a couple of years ago.’"

There you have it. "The numbers are higher than they were a couple of years ago." True. There is an underlying optimism in the citizenry that does not bob to the top when pollsters focus in on a small list of minor anxieties touching the nerves these days.

Americans are not doomed. They are not thinking Doom Doom Doom. They are responding to anti-Bush newscasts as well as considering a few bumps in the road at the moment when responding to certain polltakers.

"Republican pollster David Winston thinks the price of gas is the major factor behind the public's unhappiness. ‘They have had a positive view about where the economy is going, but they have been unsettled by increasing gas prices,’ he said."

And as can be expected, according to The Washington Times report, "voter dissatisfaction was especially high in heavily Democratic ‘blue states’ such as Michigan, which have been hit hard by manufacturing job losses, but more favorable to the president in Republican ‘red states’ such as Indiana.

"’Depression,’ Democratic pollster Ed Sarpolus of EPIC/MRA said when asked to sum up the mood in Michigan, where unemployment is nearly 7 percent.

"In Indiana, however, 55 percent approve of the overall job Mr. Bush is doing, according to an Indianapolis Star/WTHR poll."

Go figure and stay tuned.

DEM REID, HATE-SPEECH RETURNED, APOLOGIZES TO BUSH

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

There are some Dems who are so absolutely upset about the Republican advantage in America that they rant ad infinitum, hate speech gear in place, and then make media fools of themselves.

It must be embarrassing to continue such a neurotic state of mouth after the Red States win last November; but then again there are some diseases that are simply hard to lick.

So once again we have on tawdry display the flap tongue of a Dem leader who pronounced stupid sentences, realized they were dumb dumb dumb, and then apologized for the world to hear.

Wouldn’t it be smart if the Dem leadership so-called had a meeting to discuss how to discipline their public deliveries so as not to dig deeper the already gaping hole in their party? One would think so.

But then again, Dem leaders are not thinking that much these days. That is, they are not into creative, productive, optimistic thinking as are the Republicans. Surely they can’t begin to match up with the progressive agenda set by US President George W. Bush.

Therefore, when Senator Harry Reid gave forth with gases aplenty, he stepped back a bit later and then lifted the phone to make a call to the Republicans.

Here’s the way it goes as reported by Erin Neff of the Las Vegas Review-Journal: Reid was waxing eloquent on filibusters and the rules set down in the US Senate. Dem Reid was acting like the wise ol’ owl in mentoring a group of juniors. In other words, he was seeking to provide "a lesson in partisan politics, particularly about the commander in chief.

"’The man's father is a wonderful human being. I think this guy is a loser.’"

So with one simple sentence, Dad George is let go as a "wonderful" person while Son George is slammed as a "loser." There you have it from Reid.

Naturally the juniors seated in front of him wanted to impress their experienced, professional, seasoned Reid, therefore they responded with chuckles chortled. That was followed with more from Reid: "I think President Bush is doing a bad job."

Consider that Dem high brow academician in-depth political guidance for the younger set. Well, it so happens that Republican National Communications Director Brian Jones got wind of the give-forth. Hearing what the Dem had said, Jones stated to media that the remarks were "’a sad development but not surprising from the leader of a party devoid of optimism, ideas or solutions to the issues people care about most.’"

Oh, how precious and cadenced that response from a Republican. Sterling indeed.

Reid, humbled when the press got hold of his comments, then connected with the Review-Journal. He told staff there that he had "crossed the line."

Surely he had.

Reid went on: "’You know the president is in Europe, probably sleeping. But I called (Karl) Rove and apologized for what I said.’"

Repentance is good for the soul.

A BUSH-PLUS: PAYROLL UPPED ‘MORE THAN EXPECTED’

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

All this is on the Bush Watch, people!

It’s the latest: May 6, noontime via Reuters Washington Bureau: "Payrolls grow much more than expected" read the headlines.

This is while United States President George W. Bush continues his optimistic improvement of the US while furthering a freedom spread worldwide wherever possible.

It’s amazing and surely startling to the Democratic Party as well as the liberal mainstream press. Nevertheless, it is fact.

As Glenn Somerville reports: "U.S. employers added a surprisingly large 274,000 jobs in April and payrolls grew in each of the two prior months more than first estimated, the Labor Department said on Friday in a report that eased fears about economic growth."

This is a pleasant shot in the arm for America. It’s a most exciting moment for the Republican Party. One can be certain that all the Red State voters are still giving thanks these months after the November presidential election.

"The April jobs total outstripped analysts' expectations for 170,000 new jobs and implied that interest rates are likely to keep rising since lofty energy prices have not sapped the durability of the three-year old economic expansion.

"’So much for soft spots, unless you think it is possible to create 700,000 jobs in the past three months and not have a solid economy,’ said economist Joel Naroff of Naroff Economic Advisors in Holland, Pennsylvania.

The nay-sayers complained that it could never happen. America was doomed with a naive, not-all-that-intelligent Executive. The conservatives would bring the nation to ruin, particularly with an evangelical praying base line that refuses to yield to negativism.

One wonders what under heaven would have ever come of America if John F. Kerry were now seated in the White House — let alone the prospect of his wife "taking charge." But that is no longer a possible national disaster. Mr. Bush and team are moving forward — both domestically and in foreign liberty surges.

"April job gains were broad-based with manufacturing the only major sector to shed positions. Construction employment snapped back after a soft March, adding 47,000 to payrolls for the strongest hiring since March 2004.

"Treasury Secretary John Snow, in a blitz of television appearances after the jobs report was issued, said the economy was well poised for steady expansion. ‘I think we can continue to have good strong, noninflationary growth that creates lots of jobs going forward,’ Snow said on CNBC television."

Carry on!

US-LED COALITION ASSISTS IRAQI FARMERS: GOOD NEWS ONGOING!

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

Though the liberal mainstream media won’t tell you, there are good news happenings in New Iraq.

One of them is soldiers assisting local farmers. According to USArmy Spc. Ricardo Branch of the 3rd Inf. Div. Public Affairs Office, the 256th Brigade Combat Team moved alongside farmers to enhance the yield in the greater Baghdad environs.

This should increase the harvest and also encourage locals in keeping on with keeping on, despite Muslim murderers global who seek daily to undo the democracy plant. The more the killers slay, the more the Iraqi locals persist. One of the latest prime examples is this "equipment signoff event at the Al-Radwaniyah Provincial Civil Military Operations Center."

As the US President George W. Bush promised the New Iraq citizens, America will do all it can to provide liberties established for Iraqis. That’s the sacrifice America is willing to pay in order to share freedom. That’s the conviction of the President of the most powerful nation on the globe.

That in itself historically is most unusual. Usually political leaderships use their might to quell and keep in check. Instead, during the Bush administration, officialdom is waging war against Muslim killers international while bringing the freedom banner to peoples who have never experienced freedom.

The improvement of Iraqi agriculture is another dimension of that freedom spread. And it is taking hold with Iraqis responding with appreciation maximum.

"’We want to thank the U.S. government and U.S. Army for their support and efforts to make this happen,’ Saub Hussien, a representative of the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture, said. ‘Their help will make Iraqi's agriculture better and assist many farmers of this area and many others like it.’"

While watching Meet the Press several Sundays ago, I noted a member of the panel asking why Iraqis don’t seem more appreciative of what the US-led Coalition has done and is continuing to do.

With that, I wanted to ask my TV screen this question: "You reporters there on the panel don’t report it. You don’t tell us Americans what the locals there are saying in the way of Thank You. They are saying Thank You. But you liberal press newsfeeds are not relaying the appreciation to the American public."

Such is the case.

No wonder when Mr. Bush was asked what newspapers he delved into each morning, he responded quite candidly that he did not read the American newspaper spread that closely. Why?, he was immediately pressed. Because he got more reliable data directly from the field.

Of course.

And the more reliable data is available to the American reading public if they can search and discover it, scouring as they may, hopefully coming upon an Internet newscast that can be trusted and thereby hooking on to it for dear life.

Iraqis do express their thanks. They do shake hands with the US-led Coalition. They do work alongside the soldiers there on behalf of freedom. But the liberal media won’t report that encouragement. Nevertheless, it’s happening, such as with the agriculture move recently.

"’We're about to make a bit of history today,’ said Brig. Gen. John Basilica, Jr., commander of the 256th Brigade Combat Team. ‘Handing off this equipment will give assistance to the farmers of the region and provide better agriculture to the Iraqi people.’

"256th Brigade Combat Team signed over 37 tractors, 16 water pumps, and 56 five-horsepower generators to the Ministry of Agriculture to pass down to farmers in need of the equipment.

"The equipment, originally purchased under the old regime, lay dormant in a Sadr City warehouse for the past three years. Upon finding the equipment, the soldiers transported it to a secure area for repairs and eventual distribution to the farmers.

"The hand off of equipment is part of an effort for the soldiers of 256th Brigade Combat Team, who have provided agricultural aid for some time. ‘This is all part of Operation Amber Waves, which was initiated during 1st Cavalry Division's time,’ Basilica said.

"‘The 256th Brigade Combat Team is out here to assist the local farmers with improving their farming and really just make this signoff happen. It's really been a three-fold mission however, as we've already given seeds, fertilizer and now equipment. This will help promote and improve the chances for Iraqis to feed themselves.’"

GRASSROOTS IRAQIS REPORTING-IN THE ENEMY MORE THAN EVER

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

The third-in-rank among Muslim killers international — Abu Faraj al-Libbi, operations chief for Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda murder machine —is now caught, arrested, done, over and out.

That warns other Islamic slayers to be particularly careful. Their days are numbered.

"’I think that the Pakistani people should be delighted that their security forces have completed such a sophisticated operation,’ Marine Lt. Gen. James T. Conway said. ‘Remember, this guy tried to kill their president twice. He was their No. 1 terrorist, and now their commandos have taken him down and put him behind bars.’

"Conway said that with Libbi now in custody, other terrorists have something to think about. ‘I think it should send a strong message to bin Laden and his followers that you are not going to rest in peace as long as this global war on terrorism is in search of you and your compatriots. We will hunt you to your dying days and either capture you, or kill you if you resist,’" Conway stated to media as reported by John D. Banusiewicz of American Forces Press Service.

Therefore, the latest optimism in New Iraq is that local citizens are becoming more and more vigilant. They are reporting more specifically concerning suspects. They are coming out of the neighborhoods to defend their own dwellings and families. Consequently, the US-led Coalition is getting an increase in reliable tips on Islamic slayers.

Because of the particularly maddening recent Muslim murder spree set loose, peace-loving Iraqis are more determined than ever to see through their democracy planting begun a little over two years ago with Operation Iraqi Freedom’s three-week-win war against Saddam Hussein.

"Any remaining support among Iraqis for fugitive Jordanian terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is fading as his network's attacks continue to take aim at their country's security forces and civilians, the director of operations for the Joint Staff said at a Pentagon news conference today."

US-led Coalition officialdom reports that they are "’absolutely confident’ that if Zarqawi stays in Iraq, he'll be captured or killed.

"’As you might imagine, with a $25 million reward on his head, we get a lot of tips and a lot of rumors of Zarqawi sightings,’ Conway said."

US President George W. Bush has warned America of sacrifices necessary in order to see through the liberty plant in New Iraq. He has asked the citizens for patience and faith in timing. Much has been accomplished in just two years-plus. Much more will be established as the National Assembly becomes precisioned in setting forth its own politic.

Of course, the anti-Bush league has no idea of the concept of patience-in-time. Political liberals want perfection yesterday, yet cannot produce the miracle demanded themselves. Nevertheless, it’s the fuel that powers up the mouth strings of the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry and the Dem nay-sayers pack.

However, apparently the grassroots Red States coalition remains realistic and appraised of the ongoing freedom spread. Mr. Bush remains firm in his convictions. The Republican Party sizes up its forces for patriotism and continues to continue.

With that, the nation appears to have a stronger future for safety and sharing its liberties with others.

HOMO-LEANING SEX-ED COURSE HALTED: MARYLAND JUDGE

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

"’I have directed the office of the deputy superintendent of schools to review and evaluate the materials referenced in the judge's order, Superintendent Jerry D. Weast said, ...before any decisions are made about any future pilot testing of the revised curriculum in our schools.’"

So Montgomery County Public Schools leadership influenced, according to Jon Ward of The Washington Times.

Morally based parents and students have fought off an experimental sex-ed course that was scheduled to start today. But the federal judge "ruled in favor of a lawsuit that charged the course is unconstitutional and promotes homosexuality."

Perhaps other judges will get the message.

Parents are not going to sit idly by while liberal instructors and administration carry off their children. They’re going to check out the instruction, the instructors and the leadership. They’re going to attend every class. They’re going to review the students’ texts and the teachers’ manuals. They’re going to connect with the press. They’re going to make certain that that which is inappropriate gets removed as well as never gets another start-up in public schools.

Therefore, this win in Maryland is a major plus for parents’ power in the public school system. May all mothers and fathers nationwide take note, study the particulars and see that the same dittos are implanted where they live.

"U.S. District Judge Alexander Williams Jr. had granted a 10-day temporary restraining order yesterday to halt the teaching of the new course.

"Mr. Weast also said that he is suspending the use of ‘Protect Yourself’ -- the video where a woman demonstrates condom use with a cucumber -- pending further investigation by the schools.

"Judge Williams agreed with the two groups that filed the lawsuit -- Citizens for a Responsible Curriculum (CRC) and Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays (PFOX) -- who argued that the curriculum is biased toward homosexuality and dismisses religious perspectives on the subject."

America can thank God for the Red States’ win last November. It has set loose ethically moored parents into high gear to counter the religious and political liberalism that engulfed the country, including especially the public schools.

Moral citizens wondered prior to last November’s Republican victory if they stood a chance. Hollywood had turned against them. Some of their own churches had turned against them. Surely the press was known as the mainstream media falsehood manufacturer. Town hall, the public school, judges — all these foundational supports were under suspect as Americans attempted to scratch and claw for some wall to lean against, some flooring to stand on.

But now with US President George W. Bush in the Oval Office, morally sensitive citizens have concluded they stand a chance for bringing the nation to sensibility, decency, and a healthy approach to everyday living. There is much ground yet to cover-cleanse, much Clintonian years to unravel, yet there is a beginning.

"Montgomery County Public Schools ‘open up the classroom to the subject of homosexuality, and specifically, the moral rightness of the homosexual lifestyle,’ the judge wrote in his decision. ‘However, the Revised Curriculum presents only one view on the subject -- that homosexuality is a natural and morally correct lifestyle -- to the exclusion of other perspectives.

"’The public interest is served by preventing [school officials] from promoting particular religious beliefs in the public schools and preventing [the officials] from disseminating one-sided information on a controversial topic,’ Judge Williams wrote."

Citizens for a Responsible Curriculum (CRC) and Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays (PFOX) stood up to the unbalanced agenda, working day and night in order to bring awareness to the community and action from the powers-that-be.

"This is beyond our wildest dreams. Who could ever have imagined this?" CRC President Michelle Turner said. "The board totally capitulated. We won big-time."

It’s as if the "little person" has finally been heard. That’s the feeling the moral advocates feel today. They have finally made a dent, got the right end of the horn, and heard from a level-headed judge. It’s hard for them to believe; nevertheless, they are most pleased with what they are hearing.

"Turner said her group brought the lawsuit because the school board refused to meet with the members even after they presented more than 4,000 petition signatures last month opposing the course.

"Erik W. Stanley, a lawyer representing CRC, said the teacher resources supplied by groups such as Planned Parenthood were not, as the schools said, peripheral to the curriculum.

"’They are as much a part of the curriculum as the curriculum itself,’ he said during a 90-minute hearing at U.S. District Court in Greenbelt yesterday."

Of course, Planned Parenthood can be expected a front row seat wherever a sex-ed course is going to be taught in the public schools. When teaching in a public school, I was aware of the influence that PP had in that particular alternative learning context.

For instance, posters depicting the liberal position on sex-ed were freely placed throughout the building. And on field trips, it was not unthinkable for a fellow teacher to stop by PP office in the city for the students to load up their pockets with condoms.

Go figure. There’s still a lot of ground yet to cover-cleanse, morally sensitive citizenry. So carry on. And in the meantime, remember what was done in Montgomery County.

PELOSI, DELAY, TRAVEL AND LOBBYISTS: WHO’S LYING?

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said: "’It is not an issue of members of our Caucus having the same sort of a problem. Make no mistake - there is a drastic difference between the timing of reporting things and ethical behavior.’" That’s the latest on DrudgeReport.

On Sunday’s ABC-TV talk-exchange with George Stephanopoulos, Pelosi defended, without substance, Dems in trouble with the scandal related to Congresspersons traveling thither and yon, funding same to lobbyists.

Pelosi, when asked by George "What about the Democrats doing the same as House Majority Leader Tom DeLay?" got a most vehement, emotional, index-finger-pointing but not substantive response from Pelosi.

Her overly dramatic reply made it appear all the more that George had indeed touched on a hot nerve. It was a hot one that Pelosi had not anticipated, nor did she know how to respond to it with definitive defense.

So the Dems have made a big big deal about DeLay, all the more when US President nodded a greeting toward DeLay at a recent Texas event, even providing DeLay with return trip to DC via the President’s plane.

But of course the public knew that if DeLay had received some sort of favor from a lobbyist, then who’s clean in Congress?

Further, DeLay gave his side of the story when asked by reporters as to what was going on with travel and lobbyists. And for that matter, DeLay might just have been telling the truth and nothing but the truth.

However, what’s quite fascinating about this whole issue is not just what will finally happen to DeLay but that air-headed Pelosi has surely opened up the box for Dems to come under fire — blistering fire. Now she’s wiggling with terms such as "timing of reporting" and "ethical behavior" out of category and all that sort of doublespeak that goes nowhere but down.

The tally to date, that is, as of May 5 in the afternoon, according to Drudge, is that 13 Congresspersons are "under scrutiny in the travel scandal." And of those, "more Democrats than Republicans have found themselves the subject of news reports outlining potential violations of House ethics rules for taking trips funded by registered lobbyists or lobbying firms."

Stay tuned.

THE WORLD. . .GOD MADE IT. GOD MASTERS IT.

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

"This is what the Lord says: 'Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.'" Isaiah 66:1 (New Living Translation).

This same message is repeated in Acts 7:49. Both Testaments give earthlings this primary message from Creator God. In this time of worldwide uncertainty, this particular divine revelation brings each believer much needed comfort. Christians everywhere should take to heart this deliberate message from caring Father God.

God Eternal lives in heaven. He is seated upon His throne. Christ Mediator sits at His right hand. Holy Spirit, the Comforter, serves as their representative on planet earth. In the Word, this globe's citizenry is informed from the eternities concerning Creator Author God's residence. It is heaven. The citizenry also is informed concerning our place before Author God. It is to abide upon the footstool before His everlasting throne.

Logically then nothing whatsoever can occur on this footstool without Creator Author God, seated upon heaven's throne, knowing all about it. Not only does He know all about it, He has the ultimate governance concerning what He knows. Satan would attempt to grasp the footstool.

Why? Because Satan has always coveted deity's throne in heaven. Satan demands to rule. He cries out to be eternal monarch. However, his plot to instigate mutiny in the heavens was foiled by his being consigned to an eternal hell. Yet Satan has not given up his scheme to take over God's throne. Satan hungers for the impossible.

Yet though Satan is possessed with his unattainable urge, he still proceeds insanely in the unattainable direction. Why? Because Satan is the source of the unreasonable, illogical, and insane. Only God is the source of reason, logic and sanity. Therefore, Satan, continuing on the impossible, unreasonable course, keeps on keeping on. It is his nature.

With that understood, Satan's emissaries represent him in his horrific attacks against the health of this footstool--our place of residence--planet earth. They, for instance, seek through such means as terrorism to maim, cripple, destroy, dent, burn up, and by other malicious plottings obliterate our home, the globe.

Why? So that their henchman, Satan, can move from footstool to Creator Author God's eternal, heavenly throne. With that accomplished, the final overthrow of deity will have been seen through. That then will introduce Satan alone as ultimate divine being.

Now that of course is the impossible plot. Nevertheless, Satan's emissaries bind themselves to the same unreasonable thrusts as their father from hell. Coming then full circle to the Word's revelation, the comfort for believers in all of this is that whatever occurs upon this planet--its atmosphere, surface and beyond--must first pass through the surveillance of Creator Author God. Nothing can happen to His footstool without His knowledge, His permission.

When then various attacks against planet earth do confront us, it is up to the Christians' discernment to seek the mind of God. What is His message implanted in whatever occurs? What is He allowing? Why is He permitting the circumstances to unfold as they do?

Sometimes God reveals His secrets to His children so that they can discern a message, a pattern. At other times, God knows that it is best to keep His designs to Himself for eternity's revealings.

In any case, the fact that Creator Author God has ultimate knowledge, final word, the last move, brings the peace that believers need in order to live with global uncertainty. The revealed Word sees to it that the children of grace have provided for them this calming data.

Share this hope with other believers. Open also the Word to unbelievers so that they may be privy to this detail. In this, they may become believers in realizing that there is a Creator Author God who is very much in charge of the ultimate.

It is He--God--who is master. It is He--God--who puts to flight the satanic forces, even using their attacks for divine proceedings of eternal significance. Biblical prophecy is replete with specifics of global happenings.

The Book of Revelation in particular symbolically sets forth a myriad of scenarios describing earthly occurrences. Christians believe that the symbolism points to a literalism, that is, the message becoming actual.

Therefore, it is not foreign to the Word to understand global happenings actually taking place in history for everlasting purposes. It also is not alien to the Word to set forth earthly events taking place under demonic instigation--but first passing through the permission granted by the One upon the throne.

The underlying message in all the Word's data then is this: God is the Alpha and Omega, the start and the finish, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. It is He who looks upon His footstool, fully aware of everything relating to that footstool.

From God's everlasting throne He surveys, weighs, filters out, permits in and states finally what happens, not only to His throne in heaven, but His footstool--our place of global residence--planted in space.

Praise be to Creator Author God. Thanks be to this deity for His illuminating Word. All honor be given to the Comforter Spirit who administers this revealed peace to our souls.

CONSERVATIVE LUTHERANS HAVE A RIGHTEOUS BATTLE TO WAGE

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

According to Neela Banerejee of the New York Times, "A task force of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America recommended that it retain its policy against blessing same-sex unions and ordaining gays, but suggested that sanctions could be avoided for pastors and congregations that chose to do so."

Can a Christian imagine the apostle Paul calling for a task force to conclude what God had already revealed? Can one think of Jesus calling for a committee to decide on what the Father told Him in prayer?

Whatever happened to "Thus saith the Lord!"?

That is the reasoning of biblical Lutherans. They conclude that divine revelation is already with us in the Bible. Therefore, why should a denomination’s task force come to any conclusion about moral issues but what the Bible presents?

Biblical Lutherans are contesting the most recent waffling of the Lutheran task force on homosexual this and that within that particular branch of Christendom.

Lutherans let the homo legit door open wide when they waffled at the start, committing sacrilege, going the way of apostasy. One cannot think of the Southern Baptist Convention granting such procedures on moral matters.

Nor can one think of the Assembly of God doing same. Or the Church of God, Cleveland Tennessee. Or the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Or the Church of God, Anderson Indiana. Or any other evangelical, scripturally moored denomination.

Of course, when it came to the Wesleyan holiness-heritage United Methodist Church, they had quite the battle in their last annual conclave. Homosexuals had infiltrated to an alarming degree — both within the laity and clergy — so as to almost turn that denomination into a practicing homosexual lobby. Thank heaven the biblically grounded vote won the day. But the entire session was consumed with unbelievable tension.

The Presbyterian Church is dealing with the same stress. Only time will tell whether or not the homosexual infiltration overcomes the biblically aligned so as to change church policy into heresy condoned.

When it comes to mainstream churches, they are sliding so liberal theologically that it’s quite frightening. How far can apostasy go until a denomination implodes? The Episcopalians are already paying a severe price for saying Yes to practicing homosexuals. They are left with extreme turmoil in the US while the African Anglicans castigate the American church for going the way of the devil.

Such is life in the End Time.

Now the Lutheran task force has come out with its own compromising, wimpish, appearing-to-be-pious "wiggle room." Biblical Lutherans are not at all happy, rightfully so. They see the whole matter pressing on right-and-wrong issues. They count the situation as letting Satan take over their church or bowing contritely before the Lord God in holiness.

"Word Alone, a biblically orthodox Lutheran group, sharply criticized the recommendations as an attempt to hoodwink parishioners into believing that policies remained unchanging despite the fact that sanctions may not be enforced.

"The sixth-largest Christian denomination, with five million members in the United States and Caribbean, the Lutheran Church is attempting to resolve what the task force called a ‘deep, pervasive’ disagreement about the role and treatment of gay men and lesbians."

The "deep, pervasive disagreement" would not have had to be if the denomination had not permitted at the very start the blatant perversions maximum.

WHAT CAN THE 'LITTLE PERSON' DO TO FIGHT BABY KILLERS?

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

I received an e-mail from a pro-life woman who voiced concern that she is not a public speaker or writer who can champion the anti-abortion cause. So she asked: What is it that I can do to help?

This is such a necessary question, for there are many who wonder what they can do to help rescue the unborn children. After all, it’s an overwhelming problem. The enemy is vocal and strong. Our allies are continually fighting the good fight of faith.

So what can we all do to assist those babies in the womb?We can pray. Prayer is the mighty force. It informs the heavenly Father that we depend upon Him for wisdom and strength.

Prayer also unlocks our intercessory concern for another — the self-giving prayer rather than the self-serving petition. We all can pray every day. We can pray throughout the day. We can pray with others.

We can remind our believing friends to pray. Prayer moves the world — the unseen world. Commerce moves the visible world; prayer moves the heart of God that moves the invisible world. It is the invisible world that will ultimately outlast this visible sphere.

Therefore, to pray is to move into the eternities’ thrust for earthly good.I would recommend that if you are deeply concerned about the pro-life movement, yet feel helpless as to what you can do, start with your Bible open and your heart at prayer. Read those passages that equip you to get hold of the divine revelation concerning the unborn. Share these passages with friends. Type them out and e-mail them to others. Mail them as inserts in your mailings.

The Word of the Lord is an eye-opener and heart-enlarger, therefore, use that Word as one who believes in prayer power. (See below for Scripture passages relating to the pro-life position). Then with your Bible open, bow your head and heart in humble petition before the Father’s throne.

Tell God that you are crying out for the unborn, that you are sincerely concerned about their welfare, and that all those babies snuffed out in abortion murder are accepted by heaven’s angels. Then thank God that He has the last word in these tragedies. The abortion trade kills the unborn; but God can receive every one of them into His eternal home. In that is the power.

That is where your prayer of intercession locks in. In that is your hope as a pro-life believer. So, the next time you feel helpless about this pro-life mission, pray. Pray some more. And ask others to join you in prayer. Prayer moves the heart of God.

God moves the invisible world from earth to eternity. Scriptures related to the pro-life position: "Your hands shaped me and made me. Will you now turn and destroy me? Remember that you molded me like clay. Will you now turn me to dust again? Did you not pour me out like milk ... and knit me together with bones and sinews? You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in your providence watched over my spirit" (Job 10:8-12 NIV).

"Before I was born the LORD called me; from my birth he has made mention of my name...and now the LORD says--he who formed me in the womb to be his servant..." (Isaiah 49:1, 5).

"The word of the LORD came to me, saying, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations" (Jeremiah 1:4-5).

In the following passages we note that personality is ascribed to the unborn: "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be" (Psalm 139:13-16).

"Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him" (Psalm 127:3).

Exodus 21:22-25 relates how Israel was to judge a circumstance relating to the death of the unborn: "If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman's husband demands and the court allows. But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, bum for bum, wound for wound, bruise for bruise."

All of the latter deals with unintentional hurt which comes to a pregnant woman; how much more will divine penalty come upon those who intentionally discard the fetus?

The Gospel of Luke ascribes personality to the fetus within Elizabeth: "When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit... As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy" (1:41, 44). Mere tissue does not leap for joy; only personhood leaps for joy.

The Bible regards the fetus as having personality. In Galatians, Paul speaks of himself as a person while still in his mother's womb, but more a person consecrated by God for a holy mission (compare Jeremiah 1:5 for the same accent): "But when God, who set me apart from birth, and called me by his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles..." (Gal. 1: 15-16).

Since the Bible regards the fetus as personality, the aborting of the fetus is murdering personality. Some verses from Scripture dealing with murder are then appropriate for study, such as Genesis 9:6: "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man."

Also, read Exodus 23:7: "Have nothing to do with a false charge, and do not put an innocent or honest person to death, for I will not acquit the guilty."

Note I Peter 4:15: "If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer..."

CATHOLICS: CORRECTING A MESS

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

The Catholic Church is in one grand mess chiefly because it refuses to understand the biblical understanding of God’s good gift of sex.

The Catholic position has been that the higher level of holiness is celibacy while the next level down is the conjugal relationship—marriage—for those too weak to abstain.

Yet, the Bible presents sex as the Creator’s gift to the human race when used within the divine boundaries—that is, marriage.

The Catholics have long had a history of defying Scripture by taking their own course for defining doctrine as well as life issues. Every time the Catholic hierarchy has done this, the Catholic Church has ended up in trouble.

The Catholic Church for the first thousand years had married priests. Numerous popes then were married.

Further, if the Catholic Church defines their first pope as Peter, they should understand that he was married for Jesus healed his mother-in-law; but once again the Catholic Church does not seem to recognize this origin for the Catholic Church appears not to either know or recognize its own Bible.

Do not those "in charge" (the Catholic Church leadership) realize that they are committing blasphemy by undercutting the express Word of the divine with their own manufacturing? Yet evidently hubris in the main continues in the driver’s seat.

In addition, does not the Catholic Church realize that the Scriptures state that the bishop is permitted one wife?

Yet once again the Catholic leadership continues to set aside the clear Word in order to hold to their preconceived definitions of cleric holiness.

Now the Catholic Church has boxed itself in. It has for years been going astray of the Scriptures and so now is reaping its own due. Unfortunately, this is bringing such pain to the innocent devout as well as to the purposefully disobedient.

With priests numbering less and less, the Catholic Church can hardly live with the loss of another priest. Yet that is exactly what is happening time and again. As priests are now being found out to be perpetrating sex crimes, they are disappearing from their parishes, leaving more congregations to go without religious leadership.

Fundamentally, is it not lamentable that such a large segment of religious should remain in the dark regarding biblical truth?

It is the Word that liberates. It saves. It gives hope and cleansing. It provides us with holy teaching. Why then does not the Catholic Church bow in humility before the eternal Word and so be saved, cleansed and enlightened with God’s hope?

It appears clear that today God is bringing divine judgment upon the Catholic Church. God’s justice demands this, just as His judgment has come upon errant Protestants. All who knowingly disobey the explicit Word pay, and severely.

God, in His love, must also exercise His judgment. The two dimensions of deity’s personhood are in perfect eternal balance. They therefore express themselves in human history in perfect timing.

What we Christians are witnessing each present day is the working out of divine love in perfect balance with divine justice. God loves His people and so wants them to know His grace in purity. God loves His people and so cannot tolerate, without heaven’s warning, to have them go on in their waywardness.

Over a billion dollars paid out to victims of priests’ criminality. Scores of parishes now absented of priestly leadership. The name of Christ maligned by those who claim to be of the "one true church."

Religious hierarchy in their own bind because of their own disregard for the Bible. Children left with suspicions of their church leadership. Parents fearful of their own church leadership. Some innocent priests accused unfairly of sex abuse crimes. Time and energy now diverted to lawsuit handling that otherwise should be directed to the church’s mission.

All of the above are taking place before our eyes because the Catholic Church for years has been disobeying the plain Word regarding God’s good gift of sex within marriage. The Catholic lawmakers have substituted their own egocentric legislation for the eternal truth.

They have planted their own structural prowess in the center of their religion rather than humbly yielding to the Scriptures.

Now the Catholic pride is crumbling. Its power is struggling for balance. Fear is looming. Anger is increasing. The devout feel betrayed, lied to, robbed from and left to fend for themselves.

It makes me angry. But more than that. It makes me so very sad.

I feel so sad for the well-meaning in their pews, wondering who to have faith in, where to turn, what offering to give for fear that it is going to lawsuits rather than to feed the poor.

I feel so sad for those in the pulpit who have given their best but now must wear the awful mask of the disobedient due to association by collar.

I feel so sad for those children who will now grow up going into a sanctuary left to wonder if the person at the front of the room is one who can be believed.

I feel so sad for the mothers and fathers who must now stand at a distance from their spiritual leadership, knowing that reality has proven that not all those wearing the cleric garb can be trusted with their sons and daughters.

I feel so sad for the Book—the Holy Scriptures. It is the fount of knowledge, the way to salvation, the opening to heaven, the solace for comfort and the hope for those in pain. Yet it has been so often replaced in the Catholic Church by the pronouncements of the pope or the wishes of the human power clique in one geography or another.

I feel so sad for Jesus who, once again, is being smeared by those who claim to know Him but know Him not.

All around it is an exceptionally sad day for those who feel for the work of Christ, for those who have lived out their commitment truly in the light of the eternal Volume.

BUSH GOES AFTER PORN PUSHERS. CONSERVATIVES HAPPY

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

US President George W. Bush continues to keep to his moral base agenda. That makes conservatives — particularly biblical Christians and ethical Jews — quite pleased. After all, that’s what they expect of the Bush administration.

"Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, like his immediate predecessor, John Ashcroft, has pledged to make obscenity prosecutions a priority. The department is expected to announce soon the creation of a special unit within its criminal division to focus on adult obscenity cases," according to Mark Sherman of the Associated Press.

In other words, though the Clinton years were remiss regarding obscenity, allowing it to flourish, primarily because we had a lustful religious hypocrite inhabiting the Oval Office, the Bush team is going full guns after the obscenity enthusiasts.

The anti-Bush crowd squeals that Mr. Bush is not bringing in the big porn guns. However, like unto the liberal presence in past-tense, it now demands perfection yesterday. Therefore, for those realists who abide patience-in-time, they are confident that more dirt manufacturers will find their locations under fire from the decent citizenry.

"'Since 2001, 40 people and businesses have been convicted and 20 additional indictments are pending,' said Andrew Oosterbaan, chief of the Justice Department's child exploitation and obscenity section. 'By comparison, there were four such prosecutions during the eight years of the Clinton administration,' he said.

"’Enforcement is absolutely necessary if we are going to protect citizens from unwanted exposure to obscene materials,’ Gonzales recently told federal prosecutors. He directed U.S. attorneys to report back by late July on effective ways to crack down on obscenity and what tools the prosecutors might need.

"Those kinds of words please religious conservatives, who claim the Clinton administration virtually ignored the proliferation of pornography, particularly on the Internet, during the 1990s."

What about the star-studded entrepreneurs who live off of prime smut disseminated? The Bush administration thus far has come up with "high-profile cases."

For example, "a guilty plea last year from John Coil of Highland Village, Texas, who owned and operated 27 adult-oriented businesses in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Coil forfeited an estimated $8.1 million in property to the government and was sentenced to more than five years in prison.

"In addition, there is the 23-count indictment against Edward Wedelstedt of Littleton, Colo., and his Goalie Entertainment Holdings Inc. Wedelstedt owns pornographic bookstores in 18 states; the indictment lists six allegedly obscene videos and DVDs. The government is seeking the forfeiture of millions of dollars in real estate and other property, including a Lear jet, in the Wedelstedt case."

Stay tuned.

THIRD-IN-RANK MUSLIM KILLER ARRESTED: PAKISTAN-U.S. TEAM WORK

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

"’The Pakistanis are to be congratulated for the hard work that they did,’ Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said. ‘They've been fighting in parts of Pakistan that have not been even open to Pakistani forces for a very long time and so this is a great victory for them.’"

With the United States assisting Pakistan, yet Pakistan deserved most of the credit, Rice accented, according to Bill Sammon of The Washington Times. It was teamwork at its best.

Now, with a $10 million bounty on his head, al Qaeda’s third-in-line Muslim slayer has been arrested by Pakistani forces. That in itself is a "major blow in the war against terrorism that will make the United States safer."

As I took in this recent win for freedom, of course I could not help but think back to a couple of years ago. It was Operation Iraqi Freedom and the three-week-win war. It was US President George W. Bush pushing ahead for doing in Muslim killers international. It was US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld overseeing the victory yielding New Iraq with despot Saddam Hussein toppled.

One by one nations came on board the freedom train. One by one democracies realized that this was not an "American thing." It was obligatory upon all countries enjoying liberty’s fresh breezes to get into the mission.

Therefore, the US-led Coalition continued to continue, even though profiled as the enemy to choice according to the American Democratic Party and various nay-saying European leaders, particularly in Germany, France and Russia.

Pakistan has now captured Islam’s third in rank for killing off democracies. He has schemed two assassination plots against Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf. He has despised liberties enjoyed by human beings. He has committed his existence to collapsing civilizations — all in the name of Allah, according to the killing dictates of the Koran, and in keeping with every "infidel (non-Muslim) must be slain."

In other words, the capture of Abu Farraj al-Libbi, outranked only by bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahri, was in recent hours. Yet the dating back to doing in such venom flips the calendar to the date the American President pledged to extinguish all hellish fires out to burn off democracy.

Though others were slow to get the message, including political liberals in his own country, Mr. Bush maintained his vision. It was two-fold: do away with murderers global and plant freedom stakes wherever possible. Mr. Bush remains faithful to that mandate to the present, hence his being known as the Freedom President.

"’The capture of a top al Qaeda operative, Abu Farraj al-Libbi, represents a critical victory in the war on terror,’ Mr. Bush told an economic conference in Washington. ‘Al-Libbi was a top general for [Osama] bin Laden. His arrest removes a dangerous enemy who was a direct threat to America and for those who love freedom.’

"’This is a very important day for us,’ Pakistani Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed told the Associated Press. ‘This arrest gives us a lot of tips, and I can only say that our security agencies are on the right track.’"

RUMSFELD CHALLENGES UNITY, OPTIMISM: COUNCIL OF THE AMERICAS

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

"Today the countries of the region are working together in a very constructive way," Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said. "They're leaning forward in support of democracy and economic opportunity and recognizing that cooperation with respect to security matters is certainly central to political and economic success."

That’s basic political catechism. However, it’s often forgotten or sidelined by subordinate postulates. In other words, there comes the time in every democracy’s existence when it has to return to fundamentals — for re-examination and implementation with fresh determination.

That’s what Rumsfeld’s address was all about as he spoke to the Council of the Americas this week. It was calling those of like political faith to renewal and trust. It was seeking an ongoing pledge to keep integrity in freedoms cherished.

To put it another way: it was Rumsfeld reminding his listeners that America alone can’t forge ahead for freedom’s spread. It’s the old lesson of teamwork — day by day, persevering regardless of the obstacles.

According to Samantha L. Quigley of the American Forces Press Service, Rumsfeld stated that killers international are out to do us all in, no country exempted. Therefore, vigilance from the entire region must be maintained all the time, everywhere.

"’Anti-social elements’ seek to return these countries to instability and chaos for their own benefit, he said."

Like everything else worthwhile, reassessment and realignment to what is genuinely believed to be top priority must be recognized and then given fresh impetus.

Rumsfeld, leader of the Operation Iraqi Freedom three-week-win war has the right to challenge his comrades to keep the faith. He has done that for, not only the United States, but liberty nations worldwide.

If there is ever a personage of courage and determination, it is Rumsfeld, though the Democratic Party and liberal press have attempted to smear his name and value. It was US President George W. Bush however who put to flight the taunts and jibes in favor of a realistic appraisal of Rumsfeld’s contributions to freedom’s chances.

"The top Defense Department civilian said those who would challenge Central and South America's progress toward political and economic freedom come in the forms of violent gangs, drug traffickers, smugglers, hostage takers and terrorists.

"’(Central and South American leaders) are concerned about these criminals that are seeking to destabilize governments and to prey on various vulnerabilities that exist. They're a particular danger because they can attack one of the key underpinnings of a successful civil society, and that's the people's confidence in their system of government to the extent that people do not have confidence in government.’"

In order to overcome murderers global, national leaderships must bond more closely. It’s not enough for lone rangers to wander about, hoping the enemy will simply fade away. It will take concentrated, programmed efforts on the part of every politic. Every head of state is necessary in order to stop the terrorists’ aggression.

Rumsfeld feels confident that increased unity within the region is molding itself. Nations are realizing increasingly that they must tie up, not simply coast along. The enemy does not coast. The enemy plans and then attacks. The friends of liberty must plan and quell the attacks, never giving in to those who would destroy what freedom-loving individuals hold dearly.

"’Brazil, Colombia and other Andean nations are increasing cooperation to fight narcoterrorists operating in and across their borders. This is a positive step when one considers that terrorists and criminals often use the lack of border security to their advantage,’ Rumsfeld said.

"Brazil has developed a new radar operation that eventually will allow coverage and control over Amazon airspace, he added. Part of the equation that is allowing the lean toward a free political and economic system is the waning military rivalries between Latin American states, something Rumsfeld called ‘the bane of the 19th and 20th centuries.’"

Since Operation Iraqi Freedom’s victory resulting in the New Iraq’s January 30 Victory Vote and now the establishing of the National Assembly, Rumsfeld has flown to various parts of the world, delivering speeches to encourage continuing on course. He has spoken with leadership and grassroots, cheering them on to stronger resolve.

Rumsfeld presented to his audience this week the following positive stock-taking: "’Latin America today may well be the least militarized region in the world. And it's now mostly shaped by the kind of trust and cooperation and accountability that is possible among a family of democratic nation.

"’One of my colleagues, a South American minister of defense, put it this way: "We are now united by the threats we face, not divided by them,"’ Rumsfeld said."

America can be justly proud of Rumsfeld’s freedom banner waving. It sees through his mission with accuracy and experience. Carry on, Defense Secretary extraordinary.

TIT-FOR-TAT: PELOSI VS. HER OWN DEM ‘DE LAY CLONES’

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

If DeLay is guilty, what about the Dems doing the same?

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was tongue-tied to the maximum last Sunday morning when ABC-TV George Stephanopoulos interviewed her about Pelosi’s own slip-ups regarding ethics reporting.

At one point, she stuttered and explained her ineptitude in verbalization by biding time with "I’m trying to find just the right word here. . ." When pressed for a clear answer to the question about ethics reporting, she never did provide a clear answer. Not providing clear answers was basically the mode she maintained throughout the Stephanopoulos-Pelosi back-and-forth.

Now today, according to Charles Hurt of The Washington Times, Pelosi has been called on the carpet by House Republicans who won’t let the tit-for-tat slip off the charts. If DeLay is guilty, why not charge the Dems? The ethics questions focus on travel charges.

"’She demanded an investigation into [Majority Leader] Tom DeLay, but hasn't said a word about these Democrats who have done the same thing,’ said Rep. Patrick T. McHenry, North Carolina Republican. ‘If she doesn't call for investigations into her fellow Democrats, then it's clear she's being a hypocrite.’"

There you have it. I wondered why it took so long. I would have thought the House Republicans would have jumped on this last week. But at least they finally got to it via the press.

The Dems in question are Reps. Norm Dicks, Bennie Thompson, James Clyburn and Neil Abercrombie. All these personages’ ethics doings have raised eyebrows regarding "accepting travel paid for by lobbyists."

House Republicans charge that Pelosi is more concerned about riling up political nerves than actually laying bare real facts. By her last Sunday morning TV verbal tangle, she surely is not the high intelligence politician her cliché-ridden news slips have attempted to make her out to be. She’s exceptionally airy. She’s not focused in on astutely answering questions. She’s adept at pointing the index finger at the interviewer, like a crotchety school marm disciplining an urchin in the back row.

"’As we expressed in earlier letters, Madame Leader, it appears more and more that your repeated calls for an investigation of Mr. DeLay are more driven by politics than by any real concern for the House rules,’ Mr. McHenry, with two other Republicans, wrote in a letter to Mrs. Pelosi yesterday."

In her exchange with George Stephanopoulos, Pelosi practically shouted at the man with: "Do not fall into a Republican trap of equating technicalities on reporting, timing of reporting with not upholding an ethical standard of the House."

Her lack of making sense plus her dramatic verbalizations brought, at one point, a slight smile to Stephanopoulos’ face. Then the smile turned to a look that said, "If you continue on with this lady, I just might have to cut you off at the pass."

Republicans are claiming that the playing field is not level as Pelosi charges forth.

In fact, National Republican Congressional Committee representative complained that "’what is a "technicality" for her requires a full-scale investigation for others.’"

True.

With that, stay tuned.

IRAN = TIED WITH N KOREA AS MAJOR FOE TO FREE WORLD

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

Neither Iran nor North Korea cares about humanitarianism, public relations or a freedom spread. They don’t care about their own citizens. Therefore, why would they care for any human being elsewhere?

They care only for their naked might, especially to set off-balance the United States as the most powerful country on the planet.

Therefore, when Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi announced to media today that his nation is "determined" to continue with nuclear enhancement, guess what the motive is? Watch out, though, for Iran has a fancy devious side to its bald motive. It is to mask nuclear doings as "peace furtherance," that being a good thing, according to Xinhuanet News dated May 3, 2005.

North Korea has no such public relations concern. Its military and nuclear prowess is simply out there — in your face, like it or lump it.

Iran plays peek-a-boo regarding its persona — sometimes demonic to the nuclear destructive core — threat threat threat! — while at other times appearing to be a part of the commendable intelligent population of the planet.

When Kharrazi gave his speech today before a UN conference overseeing the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, he informed his audience that Iran has been "eager to offer assurances and guarantees that those technologies ‘remain permanently peaceful.’"

As believing that is like embracing Cuba’s Castro for a cigar smoke share.

"’But, no one should be under the illusion that objective guarantees can theoretically or practically amount to cessation or even long term suspension of legal activity which have been and will be carried out under the fullest and most intrusive IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) supervision,’ he stressed."

Right. Like Beelzebub is John the Beloved.

America has long held to the position that Iran blows hot air and is up to no nuclear good except to scare the world spitless. In other words, Iran is going to manufacture weaponry to put the free world in its corner — dunce cap included.

He went on with his beleaguered complex revelation: "’It is unacceptable that some tend to limit the access to peaceful nuclear technology to an exclusive club of technologically advanced states under the pretext of non-proliferation,’ he emphasized."

Naturally the Iranian statesman could be believed as being a part of the peace conclave if he were out in front with the US President’s freedom spread global.

Thus far, there’s been no inkling of Iranian governmental powers at all interested in democracy, personal liberties or a freedom base for any community. It’s all about Iranian power clutch or nothing.

As representatives from 187 nations sat, listening to the olive branch delivery, it would have been most fascinating to psyche out each one of those brain cells in attendance. Whatever, the conference has a long way to go till benediction. Its exit is set for May 27.

Stay tuned.

RICE: BULLY N KOREA BETTER WATCH OUT

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

Yes, it’s time to turn our heads once again toward North Korea.

America has had its head turned in so many significant directions during the recent past, that it’s possible for a slip-off-the-charts modus operandi concerning a nation or two. But North Korea can’t be one of those slips.

It’s bullying, the press has stated. That’s what North Korea is up to with its recent test-fired missile. Bullying.

Then it’s time to recall Operation Iraqi Freedom’s three-week-win war when the planetary military plates were changed forever. Forever.

How soon the world can forget with the fast-paced events flurry that we have become used to. However, when it comes to the US military might, it’s wise for Iran and North Korea and China and the like to keep abreast of the American military acumen before going too far with bullying.

According to Bill Sammon of The Washington Times, Secretary of State Condeoleezza Rice put it to the North Korean’s this morning. It was a "blunt warning." She stated that America can "’deter whatever the North Koreans are up to.’"

North Korea is a country that is overloaded with military presence. They don’t have much of anything else, but they do have soldiers aplenty, all over the place — in the country, in the cities, visual presence maximum.

Holding forth with killer machines is what North Korea does best, produces the most and delights in offering up as a display card, particularly when intimidating democracies. North Korea’s government despises democracies. It has no time for a freedom spread such as the US President George W. Bush has sought to yield across the globe.

Therefore, all the more that the United States continue its staccato warnings to a destruction-oriented politic.

"’I don't think anyone is confused about the ability of the United States to deter -- both on behalf of itself and on behalf of its allies -- North Korean nuclear ambitions or gains on the peninsula. We have, after all, a very strong alliance with South Korea and a very strong alliance with Japan.

"’And, of course, the United States maintains significant -- and I want to underline significant --deterrent capability of all kinds in the Asia-Pacific region. So I don't think there should be any doubt about our ability to deter whatever the North Koreans are up to,’ Rice stated."

President Bush continues his echoing of Rice’s remarks with the nonproliferation conference taking place at the United Nations. In other words, pressure on North Korea won’t let up.

White House voice Scott McClellan went further by stating to press that North Korea needs "’to make a strategic decision to abandon their nuclear weapons program. The international community is speaking very clearly . . . and saying: "You're only going to further isolate yourself if you take steps that run contrary to what the international community expects. You will realize better relations if you pursue a course like Libya, and abandon your nuclear weapons programs."’"

The same goes for Iran, McClellan underlined.

With that, the free world waits for the proliferation assembly to give like imperatives so that the military despots get the message without doubt. It’s not enough for America to continue as front man for liberty nations, particularly disciplining the "bullies on the block." All democracies must step up to the threat, glare into the beady eyes of the military discontent, and warn them with hell’s fires.

VATICAN FORGING RIGHT AHEAD FOR MORALS: NEW POPE NO SLOUCH

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

It’s right down the Christian moral route. Three-pronged:

  • It’s NO to same-gender nuptials.
  • It’s NO to same-gender adoptions.
  • It’s NO to having sex outside the marital vows.
That is from the Holy See, according to Reuters News, dated May 2, 2005.

The Vatican has spoken. It’s particular focus is castigating Spain for the "gay marriage law" there. In a traditionally Roman Catholic country, that should never have happened. Rome disciplines the nation for going against moral expectations.

It’s a "blast" at Spain’s statute permitting practicing homosexuals to "wed." That in itself is destroying the biblical institution of marriage. It simply cannot be tolerated, the top family affairs spokesman from the Vatican informed media today.

But that’s not all. Not only are Christians throughout the world urged to stand alongside the biblical marriage definition, but the "adoption of children by same sex couples was ‘moral violence’ against children and jeopardized their personality and stability."

Whenever that is ever stated, rage explodes within the homosexual conclave. Their supporters likewise give full emotion in opposition to such a conclusion.

In other words, all is well with homosexuals who adopt children, homosexuals exude. All is well. Nothing wrong. No danger. Everything is super fine and happy. However, the Vatican counters that vehemently — the stronger the terms, seemingly the better, the wiser.

"Spanish law allowing gay couples to marry had ‘changed and falsified the very definition of marriage,’" states Rome, publicly standing its ethical ground.

"The law, passed by parliament last month in the once staunchly Catholic country, allows same sex couples to wed in civil ceremonies and gave them the same inheritance and adoption rights as heterosexuals."

Rome’s representative "said the law, along with the growth of couples living together outside marriage, was ‘destroying, bit by bit, the institution of marriage’ which the Catholic Church teaches should be a partnership for life."

The appeal from the Vatican then went out to all believers, regardless of denomination, by stating that "’Christians, even if they are state employees, are asked to become conscientious objectors because the laws we are speaking of are deeply offensive to morality.’"

The Vatican was careful to include a statement supporting respect for homosexuals; but it made clear that respect was not allowance for "marriage" or adoption. Protestant evangelicals would agree with that assessment. There is no reason for any human being to be mistreated or unfairly treated in any circumstance. But, that said, there is no reason in God’s name why same gender persons should become "married," let alone same be recognized by law.

And there is no logic for homosexuals adopting children. To that, the Vatican went on to elaborate: "’People say these children adopted by same sex couples are very happy. Maybe, when they are one or two years old. But when they are able to think for themselves, when they grow up, what a tragedy when they have to say 'my parents are two men, or two women'. Their personality, their stability is put at risk.’"

Now that makes sense.

SHARON CABINET MINISTER QUITS: GAZA EVACUATION = ‘TERRIBLE RIFT’

J. Grant Swank, Jr.

Israeli Cabinet Minister Natan Sharansky’s moral base is right on. He’s ethically doing what his conscience has pressed him to do.

He regrets his resignation. He is not happy with Israel’s future. He fears for Jews’ tomorrows. But he can’t be party to what’s been labeled the "Disengagement."

That particular term relates to Jews throwing Jews out of their Gaza Strip dwellings — out of their living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, out of their neighborhoods. It means perchance an actual civil war within the Holy Land itself.

Major angst has settled in upon a people who live with tragedy, blood flow, and injustices every day of their lives. Now it’s gone far over the charts. That’s why Sharansky can’t morally stay on board with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s cabinet. So he resigned, as reported from Jerusalem by Larry James of VOA, dated May 2, 2005.

"Israeli Cabinet Minister Natan Sharansky has resigned, saying Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's plan to withdraw from the Gaza Strip and four small West Bank settlements is a tragic mistake that will encourage more Palestinian violence and serve to divide Israeli society."

Israel, in the Six Day War of 1967, won the Gaza Strip, Golan Heights, all of Jerusalem, the West Bank and Egypt Sinai. Why then should Israel turn over any of that geography to the Palestinian Authority that has absolutely no history for stable peace making?

The Muslims have continued to enhance murderers global. They have fed the killing machine night and day. Words words words and more words have flowed from the opportunistic political so-called leadership under the PA banner, but the younger generation continues to be indoctrinated that all Jews are "pigs." All Jews must be obliterated, starting with those inhabiting Israel.

With no actual change in any of that Muslim tirade, Sharansky concludes he can’t be a part of the Jewish onslaught now scheduled against his own people in the Gaze community. It just can’t happen; not on his watch.

I admire him so very much. He should be lauded throughout his country for his noble testimony to what is right.

"Mr. Sharansky delivered his letter of resignation to Mr. Sharon Monday morning. In it, he laid out the reasons for his action. He says the Gaza withdrawal plan will only weaken the chances for a true peace with the Palestinians and says it will create a serious threat to Israeli society. In his words, ‘We are standing before a terrible rift in the nation and, to my regret, I sense no effort by the government to prevent it.’"

It is fact. Sharon himself spoke to American reporters when visiting US President George W. Bush in Crawford, Texas. In his remarks, Sharon stated to the press that "civil war" could come to his homeland. That comes from the PM’s lips. It’s not a fabricated fear. It’s daily possible horrible.

"Natan Sharansky has been a frequent critic of Sharon policy which, he has said, has been one of giving too many concessions, while getting little in return.

"Natan Sharansky is the author of the influential book ‘The Case for Democracy,’ which President Bush has said articulates his belief in the need to spread democracy around the world.

"Before immigrating to Israel in the mid-1980's Natan, then known as Anatoly, Sharansky was one of the best-known dissidents and political prisoners in the Soviet Union. He was jailed in 1977, charged with spying for the United States, and spent 10 years in Soviet prisons, until international pressure led the Soviets to release him, strip him of his Soviet citizenship and deport him to Israel."

From his bio, it does appear as if the resigned cabinet minister surely does have experience from which to draw his present wisdom. It’s sad that he goes while the Disengagement continues.

It’s all so absolutely unfair.
