Liberals: "We Can Do Anything As Long As We Say We're Sorry"
Now, Newsweek has published an article about our military men and women flushing the Muslim Quran (or portions thereof) down a toilet, in order to intimidate Islamic prisoners. However, the story was and is false! This time, however, the liberal MSM went too far. Newsweek’s bogus story caused Islamic riots against the United States, which are still ongoing, in Afghanistan and may be spreading to other countries. Apparently, there is no depth too low to which the anti-American mainstream press won’t sink; as long as its “stories” are anti-Military and anti-Bush. However, it’s alright because Newsweek has now said that they’re sorry they have caused a global incident! So, brushing off their hands, their editorial staff is on to their next story. And as the world-wide conflict over its fake story continues to escalate, Newsweek can say (with all appropriate condescension): “We said we were sorry. What more do the masses want?”
The problem, of course, is that the average Islamic Afghani, Iranian or Indonesian already believes the worst about the US and won’t pay any attention to the “apology”. I’ll venture a guess that the average foreign Muslim doesn’t read English and the fact that Newsweek’s story was false (and its attendant apology) will not be printed in any Muslim newspaper. They wouldn’t believe it, anyway. So, once again our leftist press has played into the hands of the terrorist enemies of our county. And once again, our MSM has joined hands with their Taliban, Baathist and Hamas brethren. Each, in their own way, wants to bring down the United States of America.
I do, however, have a question. Will the mainstream press EVER be brought to task for their actions? First Amendment protection does not extend to the deliberate faking of a story that, in turn, has already caused the deaths of at least fifteen Afghani citizens and has further placed the lives of our military men and women in jeopardy…lives that may be lost due to this latest MSM fiasco. The Newsweek story is just the latest in a series of mainstream press hate pieces…hatred for Americans. Will charges ever be brought against our MSM and leftist-leader seditionists? If there was ever a time that “Fire!” was falsely screamed in a theatre, this is it. If they are allowed to continue to get away with their sedition…nee treason…their actions will only become worse. Isn’t it time that someone with the power of law brought an end to this madness?

We probably don't have any practical way of brining Newsweek to account - except a published boycot of their advertisers. I intend to go to a newstand and make a list of companies advertizing in that shallow rag and then writing them. Hopefully the market can do what the Government is not allowed to do.
Newsweeek magizine owes the Islamic world 16 lives for the libel they deliberatly published in hopes of causing American deaths. In a truely just society to quote Alec Baldwin every member of Newsweeks edttorial board, their owners, and the individual reportersv would be stoned to death. Janet Reno has stated that this is protected "free speech"
Reid calling Bush a loser is like Bill Clinton calling Monica chaste.
MSM "journalists" no longer follow any code of ethics, at all. It's all about pushing their leftist agenda and ideology.
It's long past time for some of these treasonous reporters and their editorial masters to serve some jail time.
Proud Texas
The right thing to do is arrest the reporter and editors with an immediate turnover to the Afghans for punishment. Problem solved, although the beheadings will no doubt be on TV - but could be packaged as the U.S. helping follow Muslim law, which liberals want anyway.
Phony, fake, bogus etc. etc. etc. That's the ongoing story telling or tall-tale spouting of the MSM. They'll do anything and everything within their massive power base to destroy America and they continue to get away with it. Newsweeks' current murders are probably nothing new to them.
This goes below and beyond any stunt our mainstream press has pulled before. You're right, Texas. They SHOULD be jailed!
Why does everyone insist on calling them journalists? Say it the way that it is, they are “Propagandists”.
THANKS NEWSWEEK, REALLY APPRECIATE THE IN-DEPTH REPORTING AND EDITING!!!!WHAT, NOT ENUF BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS YET?OH WELL WE'RE REALLY SORRY,WHATS THE HUB BUB ABOUT? ITS KARL ROVE'S FAULT ANYWAY, HOW FREAKING PATHETIC. BOYCOTT ALL MAINSTREAM MEDIA, JUST CANCELLED MY PAPER SUBSCRIPTION,JUST RETREAD GARBAGE ANYWAY. HURT THEIR POCKETBOOK, THEY ARE NOT GOING TO CHANGE NO MATTER WHAT.
QUIT BUYING ALL MSM GARBAGE THAT'S PRESENTED AS "NEWS". I'M STICKING WITH THE NET!!!
It's very simple.
Did the Editors at Newsweek keep their Federal Journalism License up to date? Did they sign an affidavit and undergo a background check before publishing the Quran/toilet story?

How negligent was Newsweek and where does the responsibility for the violence lie? As with all things political, the actual truth is likely much less simple than we would like.
In the Newsweek article dated May 9, Michael Isikoff and John Barry reported in a brief item that U.S. military investigators had found evidence that guards at the detention center in Cuba had committed infractions in trying to get terror suspects to talk, including flushing a Qur'an down a toilet. The magazine asserts that that information came from a knowledgeable U.S. government source. Before deciding whether to publish it they approached two separate Defense Department officials for comment. One declined to give a response; the other did not dispute the Qur'an charge.
Although other major news organizations had aired charges of Qur'an desecration based only on the testimony of detainees, Newsweek asserts that they believed their story was newsworthy because a U.S. official said government investigators turned up this evidence.
In deciding where to ascribe blame, it is important to consider all facets of the story.
What you may wish to do, poster, is check Newsweek's spokesman Mark Whitaker's current comments. Isikoff had one source and one source only; a source that Whitaker has said didn't know where he had seen the information or if the info existed at all.
This is not only bad journalism it's "journalism" that doesn't even follow its own code of ethics. However, I don't suspect that leftists have the slightest clue as to the definition and meaning of ethics.
i have decided to send this message to Newsweek once a day: "SHUT YOUR DAM LIBERAL MOUTHS. WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A WAR, YOU IMBECILES.
WE HAVE OUR SOLDIERS OUT THERE AND THE PEOPLE WHO ARE TRYING TO LIVE A BETTER LIFE.
APOLOGIES WILL NOT SUFFICE. LOOK AT YOURSELVES IN THE MIRROR. DO YOU LIKE WHAT YOU SEE?
We the People know what’s really going on with you traitorous libs….you will never have power again.
"Newsweek asserts that they believed their story was newsworthy because a U.S. official said government investigators turned up this evidence."
Yep...it's Bush's fault that Newsweek decided to start publish highly-incendiary information that the unstable Muslim world would find offensive. GREAT illogical leftist thinking, that.
The story published most likely is 100% true as there have been previous reports of the Quran being abused by the military in a similar fashion. The loss of live is regrettable, but right wingers using it as a device to demonize the 'liberal' media is typical and laughable. Guess you guys were outraged in a similar fashion when the George W. told the told the insurgents to 'Bring It On'. How many deaths did that statement cause again?
"The story published most likely is 100% true as there have been previous reports of the Quran being abused by the military in a similar fashion."
Another crock! Nwesweek already admitted its story was inaccruate (AKA "false") and the only verifiable report of 'Koran-flushing' was by a prisoner at Guantanamo who tried to stop up his cell's toilet. Typical DUmmie remark.

"The story published most likely is 100% true" "How negligent was Newsweek and where does the responsibility for the violence lie?"
1)CNN as our troops rolled into Baghdad: "Sure, we new about the torture chambers, mass graves, and rock crushers with bound prisoners being fed in feet first, but we had to keep quiet as long as we could."
2)Billions of Euros in kickbacks to the U.N. and our 'allies' to keep Saddam in power, and thus perpetuate the slaughter of innocents.
3) A bunch of punks in our military humiliating prisoners without orders from above.
Which of these is our media outraged by?
Newsweek should have expected those enlightened folk to do exactly what the Quran calls for in cases of alleged blasphemy: Slay the Unbeliever.
"The story published most likely is 100% true"
I suppose this depends on what the definition of "true" is.
-Jake
PS. The liberal definition of truth seems to be: "Repeated often and enough to be believed as actual fact, regardless of a complete lack of evidence supporting the claim."
Yep, Jake. Whether the libs and leftists like it or not, Adolph Hitler said something very similar ("Tell the big lie often enough and people will tend to believe it"). The Dems use this tactic all the time.
Proud Texas
I stand by my remark, that the story is most likely 100% true. Newsweek had to backtrack to curtail any further ramifications from it.
It's no secret the tactics the Bush administration inflicts on prisoners who they suspect of terrorism. Stories like flushing the Quran down the toilet aren't just made up for the fun it.
And besides you right wingers really don't care about the deaths involved anyway; the main thing is to be able to use the story to bash liberals.
Human rights violations are only one reason why George W. Bush is the worst president in US history.
And you, Sir, are an idiot...ad hominem or not.
That's right, when all else fails, resort to calling names. Using words that also killed people, 'Bring It On'.
Suffice it to say, reasoned discussions with those of a leftist mentality are, sadly, not possible.
"I stand by my remark, that the story is most likely 100% true. Newsweek had to backtrack to curtail any further ramifications from it."
How can there be any reasoned discourse with individuals who, after learning a thing is patently false, still persist in saying they believe it and that it's "true"? Can't be done.
"Suffice it to say, reasoned discussions with those of a leftist mentality are, sadly, not possible."
That's funny, I feel the same way about neocons.
The sad thing is, if most Republicans knew what Bush and his administration are really all about, they'd still support them. Those tax breaks you boys like come with a huge price.

Liberals and leftists work with their "conspiracy theories". Conservatives look for factual evidence. That's one of the major differences between us.
"Liberals and leftists work with their "conspiracy theories". Conservatives look for factual evidence. That's one of the major differences between us."
Most of the factual information you look for is fed to you by the Republican administration. And how can you trust an adminstration that changes scientific evidence to fit their political agenda?
Do you really think you would get any factual information from Bush if you asked him about the environment? He'd tell you that rolling back all those environment regulations has actually improved the enviroment (and you'd believe him I bet).
Bush and his administration are all about mistruths, lies and keeping what's really going on from the American people.
It's not about the people anymore.
It's about corporate greed and paying back those who donate dollars to the Republican party such as energy companies and the religious right.
Despite all the best efforts of others to assist them toward reality, liberals and leftist will continue their markedly inane behaviors and delusional thought processes; while making assumptions about others that are [most often] completely false. Such is the way of victim mentality'. Tragic, really.

Keep living in your fantasy world. Your arrogance becomes you.

And the carpers of crap continue to tray and poop on the rest of us...
Now that Newsweek's story has been proven to stand up, and the Bush administration's slam on Newsweek has been shown to be false, will Conservative Tymes issue a retraction?

No! Being "conservative" means never having to admit you're wrong. Whenever anybody calls you on anything, label them a "moonbat" or "liberal" and be done with it.
Honesty isn't the only victim in the far-right's war on Truth, but it's an expendible commodity, so long as there's gas to power our SUVs and amphibious landing craft!
Here's hoping $3/gal gas hits you dirtbags right in the wallet!
"Now that Newsweek's story has been proven to stand up, and the Bush administration's slam on Newsweek has been shown to be false, will Conservative Tymes issue a retraction?"
You're not serious, are you? The Newsweek story was and is still bogus.
Just to break the long trudge of overbearing redundancy, here it goes;we all like to complain about the wicked "liberal media" brain washing the minds of our better "right" half-minded folk but, for the sake of things not getting any better, let us just stop. Enough is enough. The point has been made. So,get off of your wholesome "right" asses and do something about those things that irk you so. If it is "down with the media" that you will cry, then go. Take it down.
