9/11 Memorial Hijack: CAIR Again Plays Race Card
Fresh from its victory of intimidating ABC into firing conservative talk-show host Michael Graham for his politically-incorrect and [it said] “racist” comment “Islam is a terrorist organization”, CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) has set its sights on one of the 9/11 Memorials—and has also and again taken aim at Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO).
Tancredo had originally had the daring (in today’s utra-PC atmosphere I call it courage) to suggest that if Islam affected a nuclear terrorist attack on the US, we could ‘take out their holy sites’. Apparently, CAIR and other Muslims were “incensed” by this statement and called upon President Bush to rebuke him. Note: Tancredo’s comment seemed perfectly reasonable to me. If one is attacked, one should retaliate. However, Tancredo is one of the few Republican men left in Congress who still has testosterone intact.
Now CAIR is again pretending fury with Tancredo for daring to comment unfavorably on the proposed 9/11 “memorial” to the passengers of Flight 93—the hijacked plane brought down in a Pennsylvania field by its valiant passengers before it could hit its target. The mile-long “memorial”, designed by Los Angeles architect Paul Murdoch and approved by Joanne Hanley of the National Park Service Memorial Project, is called the “Crescent of Embrace”. That’s the Islamic crescent, folks. So, rather than being a tribute to those who lost their lives saving other Americans, this “memorial” is a tribute to the terrorists! Using the Islamic crescent? What are Murdoch and Hanley thinking? Have we gone so far down the dark and dingy PC road that we now honor those who kill us and have vowed to destroy our citizens and our country? It appears that we have. It also appears that when our enemies tell us to jump, we no longer resist—we just meekly ask the cliché question “how high”?
The 9/11 Memorial in New York is already being hijacked by those who oppose a memorial to those who died in the Twin Towers and are defiantly demanding that it be a memorial to the ‘crimes and insensitivities committed by the United States and other countries of the world’. So, now the leftist-contingents have taken over the New York 9/11 Memorial project, while the terrorist delegation now claims Pennsylvania. And CAIR, having learned its lessons from the Democrat Party, is using the race card.
CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad said “Representative Tancredo once again demonstrates his anti-Muslim bias and his thirst for publicity” and has, once again, called upon President Bush to repudiate Rep. Tancredo’s “Islamophobic comments”. It would seem that our enemies and their representatives have learned all too well how readily many Americans would rather die at their hands than be labeled “politically incorrect”. This is, of course, insane. But, this PC insanity, promulgated by the left, still seems to be on the rise.
I don’t know about the rest of you but, I don’t want to live in a Muslim state. The United States has traditionally been a safe-haven for those who want to practice their religious beliefs—or no religious belief at all. The freedom to practice one’s religion is protected by the First Amendment to our US Constitution. That is a good thing. However, until PC-Madness infected our society, we were not forced to honor our enemies—let alone build a memorial to them.
Personally, I am most infuriated with our National Park Service. This is a Federal Government organization and our tax dollars fund it. Hanley is its representative and she’s the one who has approved the Islamic Crescent Memorial to the terrorists. CAIR is only practicing what it has learned from the ACLU and the other leftists amongst us—how to play the race card and play it well. CAIR has become skilled at and seems to be winning this game. If you believe as I do, and do not want a memorial that seems patently designed as a to tribute to murderers, contact the National Park Service’s Joanne Hanley and express your concern—if not your ire. I’m certain she will be pleased to hear from you!

If the "good and moderate" Muslims actually oppose their terrorist groups, it might be a wise idea to say something and strongly, this time.
But, I suppose with CAIR backing the bad guys, they're "too afraid" to speak up?
Looks like Hanley's phone number may have changed and here email acct bounces it back. Maybe we should get in touch with the head of the National Forest Service.
This "Crescent of Embrace" idea is revolting and a slap in the face to both those who died and the rest of the US! It;s saying "we're going to be real PC and honor those who killed us and plan to do it in the future".
If these idiots think by playing nicey-nice with terrorists it will stop them, the lefties are even more lunatic than we already thought the were!
I just sent this e-mail to Ms. Mainella, the Director of the National Park Service.
I was informed that Joanne Hanley's e-mail account is bouncing e-mails back. Therefore I write to you to inform you that Paul Murdoch's "Crescent of Trees" is completely innappropriate for the site where the 4th hijacked aircraft on September 11, 2001 was brought down by a passenger revolt.
It's not that a memorial is inappropriate, it is that creating a sylvan version of the Muslim Crescent and Star symbol is highly innappropriate.
One, it offends the First Amendment requirement of separation of church and state, or in this case, mosque and state.
Two, it invokes memories of the East German government's knowing tolerance of the Hitler Youth planted Swatika Forest. (Even while we have to admit that the Swastika Forest was a pretty clever idea!)
Three, it "honors" those who committed the Act of War on September 11, 2001, not those who heroically fought back. It would be like planting a Rising Sun symbol at Pearl Harbor.
A better memorial would be to plant the trees to form the words: "LET'S ROLL!"
In English, not Arabic.
Looks like the campaign against this memorial abomination was a success!!!

I read the article in the Rocky Mountain News. Indeed, they will change the design. I have serious doubts, however, that it will be substantially changed so as NOT to resemble an Islamic symbol. The winning design should be awarded to a different firm, not the firm which employs Mr. Murdoch. I question his priorities. Although I admit I know nothing about him, I don't trust him any further than I can kick a Moslem.

This is exactly the reason why we have to remain watchful and vigilant. They just might continue to try and push Islam down our throats!

The fact that we are here and commenting on these issues gives me hope that we are indeed watchful and vigilant. I protested in an email on the National Park Service website about the crescent symbol. I hope that my letter, and those of others, were what prompted the decision to redesign the thing.

Excellent! I hope that they heard us loud and clear...and don't try to slap us in the face with our enemies, again.
"Islam" did not attack the US, and never has. People belonging to an organization that has declared war on the US did. The US's ennemy is al-Qaeda not Islam you fool. Thank god most people in the US are more intelligent than you.
Islam did not attack the US, al-Qaeda did, you fool. In spite of the efforts of people like you to make this into a global religious war, it's not.
