By Robert Franklin, Esq.

Again, like the “Real Housewives of New York” star Kelly Bensimon’s DV of her boyfriend, this case of DV by his girlfriend against Tampa Bay Buccaneer’s linebacker Geno Hayes, the media have little to say.  Shevelle Bagley allegedly stabbed Hayes with a pair of scissors and, when he disarmed her, grabbed a knife and stabbed him again.  She was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Pundits like Al Roker seemed to think Bensimon’s boyfriend was a wimp for getting punched.  I wonder what they’ll have to say about an NFL linebacker.  My guess is nothing.  My guess is you’ll never see a word about the Hayes case in national news outlets beyond the original arrest report like the one here.

Unlike the Chris Brown/Rihanna bout, which has gotten more coverage than World War II, these other two are gone with the wind.  I know that Chris Brown is a bigger deal than these other two put together, but he’s also a guy and the other two perps are women.  That means his case fits the popular mythology of DV in which perpetrators are always men and victims are always women.  The other two contradict the mythology and therefore must be “disappeared” as soon as possible.
