Men Will be Men, Even When They’re Homeless
You might think it's the homeless who need a Good Samaritan. But in this case two homeless men played that role themselves and one of them paid for it with his life (Houston Chronicle, 3/24/09).
In Houston on the night of March 23rd two men in a small homeless community under a freeway overpass saw a man get out of a white van and begin roughing up a woman who was herself homeless. They immediately went to her aid and scared the man off. He got back in his van, drove over the curb onto the sidewalk and ran down one of the men, killing him.
What prompted the van driver to attack the woman is unknown.
Like so many of the homeless, the man who gave his life to save the woman remains unidentified. He died nameless.
