Modern man a wimp says anthropologist

Thursday, October 15, 2009

LONDON (Reuters) – Many prehistoric Australian aboriginals could have outrun world 100 and 200 meters record holder Usain Bolt in modern conditions.

Some Tutsi men in Rwanda exceeded the current world high jump record of 2.45 meters during initiation ceremonies in which they had to jump at least their own height to progress to manhood.

Any Neanderthal woman could have beaten former bodybuilder and current California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in an arm wrestle.

These and other eye-catching claims are detailed in a book by Australian anthropologist Peter McAllister entitled “Manthropology” and provocatively sub-titled “The Science of the Inadequate Modern Male.”

McAllister sets out his stall in the opening sentence of the prologue.

“If you’re reading this then you — or the male you have bought it for — are the worst man in history.

“No ifs, no buts — the worst man, period…As a class we are in fact the sorriest cohort of masculine Homo sapiens to ever walk the planet.”

I don’t believe a word from this article. It is total rubbish!
How on earth can they know how far a prehistoric aboriginal could throw a spear? Was there an anthropologist taking measurements and notes?
And no, prehistoric gatherers and hunters did not run at full speed after their prey, like a cheetah. The remaining nowadays gatherers and hunters also don’t do this. Man is not built for this. They use the same tactic like wolves: hunt the prey over a very long distance, with teamwork, until from exhaustion and paralysed by fear it can be killed.
This article is exactly the same like all those macho- bullshit stories about how many kilograms bite-force a crocodile has, how long a pitt-bull can clamp his jaws, how many people can be swallowed by an anaconda, how a gorilla can smash a persons’ skull like an egg-shell… etc…
This article degrades modern man, and fantasises about prehistoric man. It is misogynist.

That is one of the most irrelevant and useless comparisons I’ve ever seen. Of course people with physically undemanding lives will have less physical ability. I’m sure that if this is happening to men then the same thing is happening to women. The only reason to write something like this aimed specifically at men is to try to hurt them. It’s an extremely self-indulgent, pathetic and time-consuming attempt. How ridiculous.

There are a ton of academic guys who are overly-sensitive prisses and they are always ripping on regular guys. I think they are attempting to appeal to the ladies by belittling masculine men. I don’t think it works very often, though.

And here I thought women wanted guys that are smart and communicate well.

I should write a book on “The Science of the Inadequate Modern Researcher”.

Real men do real research. The guy who wrote this is probably related to bigfoot and has the same IQ.

He is trying to be provocative so he can sell books, so he deserves that.

If we are so inadequate why did those husky Neanderthals die off while we’re still here?

We have the N-bomb, so stick that in your cave and kiss your hairy butt good bye Mr. Neanderthal anthro-apologist.

  5. The most misandrist thing about this guy, who i am ashamed to say was spawned on my continent- is that his evidence supports the conclusion that all humans have gone downhill physically, yet he concentrates on men! What about women? Hell, if a female Neanderthal could beat a Mr Olympia what could she do a Mrs Couch Potato? Thats another thing – comparing Arnold and a Neanderthal is not valid, he may be beetle-browed but he is from a different human subspecies, its like comparing an African lion and a Puma – same family, different animals.
