Why Are So Many Persons Falsely Arrested for Domestic Violence? — VAWA Arrest Funding, That’s Why!

Monday, November 9, 2009

Each year about 780,000 persons are wrongfully arrested for domestic violence. These arrests are funded by Section 102 of VAWA, titled “Grants to Promote Arrest and Enforce Restraining Orders.”

Ever wonder where all that mandatory/pro-arrest funding actually goes to? Here’s the state-by-state breakdown (check out how many arrest grants went to Massachusetts – no wonder it’s so bad there).

The person who submitted this encourages you to begin to think how you can lobby at the state level to repeal these harmful laws.

  • There are about a dozen YWCA's listed on this site....there is NOT one YMAC listed. Women is mentioned about 34 times, Men once and that is for an organization to tell men to stop abusing women. (I guess they forgot to tell them that it is easier to stop if women stop abusing them) From this website:

it is easy to see that all the funding goes to help women with the following statement which is one of many:

State-by-State Office on Violence Against Women Grant Activities
The Office on Violence Against Women administers the Department of Justice's formula and discretionary grant programs authorized by the Violence Against Women Act of 1994. The program assists the nation's criminal justice system in responding to the needs and concerns of women who have been, or potentially could be, victimized by violence. Grant programs emphasize enhanced delivery of services to women victimized by violence; strengthen outreach efforts to minorities and disabled women; and provide Indian tribal governments with funds to develop and strengthen the tribal justice system's response to violent crimes committed against Native American women through a discretionary grant program. In addition, the office provides technical assistance to state and tribal government officials in planning innovative and effective criminal justice responses to violent crimes committed against women.

The situation in India is very worse - this was a country dominated by various political ideologies but since the beginning men have been neglected. In the past few decades many discriminatory one-sided legislations have been passed in order to appease the feminists who hate men and these laws and privileges are perhaps found nowhere in the world. These laws and priveleges are being manipulated and misused by unscrupulous women to intimidate men or to take revenge on them and their families or to subdue them. Men here have it bad on both directions - on one side they are shackled to social traditions of taking all the risks and providing for their families and on the other hand they are suffering from discriminatory laws and wanton neglect. The law and the government here reserves 33% of seats in educational institutions for women, 40% of seats even in public buses and local trains are reserved for women, the government is planning to reserve 50% of positions in local municipalities and government for women, apart from reserving 33% of all seats in parliament for women. The laws here don't provide any help or support to men even if they are victims of abuse, neglect or intimidation. Infact they outrightly ignore men. If a divorce happens here many of the assets are given for the woman and children and only some part is given to the man and he must also support her with lifetime alimony until or unless she re-marries. There are tens of thousands of women 'self-help groups' and feminist groups all over the country who want to support the economic independence for women and what they call as 'political empowerment' (which actually calls for oppression of men by discriminatory laws and exclusive privileges for women), but for men life is a lone struggle. Most of the suicides here in India are commited by men. The government has no plan to do anything for men although it derives most of the income from taxes paid by men.
The media and cinema industry portrays them often with negative stereotypes as foolish, arrogant, dangerous or violent - they are saturated with such description and images. So there is widespread apathy in the society towards men. For example, there have been many cases of mob lynching or mob assaults in which a man who was accused of wrong doing was humiliated or attacked. No one takes this seriously that it is a violation of human rights. The government hasn't framed any laws to stop this because the victims are men.
Even when paying tax, the government takes less taxes for women and more for men in the same income levels - imagine this - I think this is not there anywhere in the U.S. or any other country (http://www.allindiantaxes.com/income-tax.php).
